Description
What a head turner! 912E with completely rebuilt engine and
transmission ($3200), with tripometer (have not reset since the rebuild) reading of 1032 miles on the new engine and transmission at the time of this posting. Rebuilt with a Raby
Aircooled Technology (RAT) engine kit ($6500). The 4 cylinder engine was bored out for
increased hp and gets roughly 30 mpg. The car still has its original fuel
injection system. All rubber fuel lines have been replaced in the front and rear of the car. The 22 gallon fuel
tank was treated with POR-15. Gauge cluster was converted by North Hollywood
Speedo from a non-functioning clock to a cylinder head temp & voltmeter
gauge, and the oil temp gauge was switched out to a numerically indexed oil
temp and oil pressure gauge ($750). Engine cooling tins have been sandblasted and
powder coated. Since the engine rebuild, only ethanol-free gas and high zinc
oil have been used for the car. This car is stored in a garage when not being
driven and I have never driven it in the rain. It drives wonderfully and shifts through all 5 & reverse gears
without grinding. Car did not have original radio, so I upgraded to a modern system. Very clean
interior. I have an excel spreadsheet listing the nearly $12,000 in parts that were replaced during the rebuild process.
Car was painted by the previous owner in 2003. I have used Dr. Colorchip on the few places the paint is cracked or chipped. A few bubbles around the door seam will need to be sanded down if the car is repainted. The paint currently shines beautifully, but just to address 2-3 spots on the car I was planning on painting the car within the next 2-3 years, but house issues are forcing me to sell. . The front passenger seat has some seam separation, but no torn vinyl. The A/C system in the car was nonfunctional with missing parts when I purchased it, so all of those parts have been removed The Bursch muffler has a couple holes in it, these are $300 aftermarket mufflers, I just haven't replaced it because I like the sound it makes right now. The smog equipment on the car was removed during the rebuild to accommodate the RAT engine kit. I believe I still have all the parts to the smog equipment and whatever I do have will be included in the sale, except for the thermal reactors which were broken and unusable. I have a set of pop-out quarter side windows available but not installed on the car currently that I will include as well as a rain tray for the rear deck. A copy of the Porsche 912E shop manual also included along with a folder full of maintenance records from the previous owner and me. All in all, this is an amazing car, particularly for someone interested in a reliable classic driver. I love this car and hate to let it go, it is quite an attention getter with a fair reserve price! For any additional questions, please feel free to ask. A video of me driving it can be seen here on youtube
