Description

1986 Porsche 928S
VIN#: WP0JB0924GS862459
Presented here is an all original, incredibly well preserved 928S in excellent condition. This 928 is cosmetically nice enough it could be taken to a local car show with pride, and is dependable (not to mention, exhilarating) enough to be a daily driver. It has a striking silver exterior with black leather interior, both in excellent condition. Currently the odometer reads 59564 miles. I purchased the car in March of 2014. At that time the car had 58299 miles on it.. The car was owned by a physician in Wisconsin from new until sold to a dealer in South Carolina in 2012. He held the car until selling it to me in March 2014. The car has a clean Car fax, no accidents or structural issues noted.
It is notable that this car has a VIN # ending in 2459 which means it is unofficially coined as a "1986 1/2 model". In 1986 all models with a VIN ending 1001 or greater had revised suspension settings, larger brakes with 4 piston calipers and modified exhaust , just as the S4 which debuted in 1987.
The car's exterior is in excellent condition. The original silver paint still has its luster. With the exception of a few rock chips on the front grill, and one small almost imperceptible scratch just above the driver's door (they do not show up on the photos) there are no dings or scratches on the exterior paint. The wheels have no road rash.
The car's interior is in like new condition. The black leather is spotless, there are no tears or worn areas. The dashboard has no cracks or fading. The heat, A/C, and stereo all function as they should. The car is completely original, including original Blaupunkt stereo system .
The car has always been well maintained mechanically. Significant recent mechanical repairs include: replace timing belt, install A/C receiver drier and expansion valve and R134conversion, replace valve cover gaskets with cam plugs, new central indicator control unit, replace cam seals, replace multi rib belt, v-belt, fan belt, and replace hood struts all done in August 2012 at 57188 miles. Four new Kumho tires were placed in May 2014 at 58,581 miles. The car runs as well as she looks. The car has been garage kept her entire life and it shows. I have the original owner's manual, tools and second key.
It is notable that the Porsche 928 has recently started to take off as a sound investment for the savvy car enthusiast. The current Hagerty Valuation Guide notes that a #1 condition 1986 Porsche 928S has appreciated by 69% since January 2013 and a #2 car has appreciated 49% over that same time period. The just released May issue of Hemmings Motor News has an article dedicated to the 928 and notes, "the time to find a bargain 928 is running outand collectors are noticing."
In summary, this car looks great, is ready to drive, show and enjoy..and these 928's have become a sound investment for the car collector. I am selling the car to help fund two additional restoration projects.
