Description

1991 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet.
Car is used and sold "as is" with no implied warranty. Clean title.
Hard decision for me to sell. I am a second owner of this car and purchased the 944S2 in 1995. I've put about 130000 miles on the car over the past 26 years. It is an exciting and fun car to drive. I've moved on to a Cayenne.
Its a daily driver and this car has been maintained by Modderman Porsche in Mountain View for the past 20 years. The engine is in solid shape and maintained by Modderman. I am sure you can get the latest stats on the car from them so you know about the waterpump/timing belt, clutch (i think done around 120K miles - was on original clutch at 120K miles), brakes. I will try to find the paperwork, but i did not do a good job keeping it, since I only went to Modderman for maintenance and knew they would have records.
The car has always been garaged since I purchased it in 1995. One thing unique feature on this car is the striping/lines done which I've not seen on any other 944 in my 20 years. I also put excellent Pirelli P-zero and used larger tires for the original rims (the rims are polished) so it has 245s in the rear and 225s in the front. The one maintenance item i did was to replace the hood and trunk struts/hydraulics as the 30 year old ones were out of gas.
No oil leaks. Option codes are in the photo, but it says: 454, 494, 573, and 946
The bad:
It does have 163K miles on it, so it has the wear and small tears on the top, plastic window (tear in upper right corner), chips in the paint, scuffs on the lower part of the front fender. The driver seat has wear and tear. One of the vent slider knobs is missing (but I think I have itbut I know the knob either needs to be glued on, or replaced), The button icons (for A/C and air recycling are worn off). The driver light is out, as is the clock light. Clock works fine. The driver side floor mat is not in good shape, but its been reinforced with some glued on fabric underneath. The stone guards are really dirty. There is a small ding on the front driver side (see photo). Then various dings on the passenger side door, scuff under the front "bumper", and plenty of rock chips on the front. Steering wheel leather could use replacement. When you start the car up, the A/C belt may squeal for about a 30 seconds (if you press on the accelerator), but it goes away once the belt warms up.
The good:
Engine is solid - i've take the car down back and forth to Los Angeles from San Francisco many times, in the 100 degree weather, with A/C on, and have had no problems. You can easily cruise at 90+ MPH, but I am not advocating nor condoning such action.
A/C is great and runs cold. I rarely turn the A/C offit always runs. Modderman just used R134 and recharged the system and its been good for the past 2 years now.
Electronics all work. The convertible top motors, fog lights, wipers/fluid motor, cruise control, defroster are good. Dashboard is in excellent shape (see photos)
I have the tonneau cover and its in great shape
I do have the wheel lock key. I have one original ignition 944 key (and a backup generic copy), and a valet key.
I have the 944 owner manual and a porsche alpine white paint touch up bottle, and the two handles that allow you to latch the convertible top. Also have the air pump kit, and the have the spare tire and jack kit (I've had to use it a few times).
Have part of the 944 service manual printed out (killed some treesbut I did this 20 years ago), so included that.
Will leave a custom designed subwoofer box that is designed to fit in between the trunk area and sits behind the front seats (no amp)
The car has the blaupunkt equalizer, but has a panasonic stereo -lcd display it out, but it works. I have the manual and install kit for the stereo (along with the stiff wires that help you pull the unit out).
Have a new porsche fabric top conditioner aerosol
If you want more pics or particular areas, just reply. In my opinion, it could use new leather seats, new leather steering wheel, new top, new floor mats - would make the car comfy and look great.
In terms of payment and such, we will have to come to an agreement on deposit, etcbut I can work with you. If you need it shipped, same thing. We can talk about options. For example, I just had a car shipped from Annapolis to San Francisco in a covered trailer and I paid $2500.00 about a month ago.
