For sale is a meticulously maintained, classic 1984 Porsche 944. ThisPorsche has had the engine completely rebuilt and excellently maintainedto focus on reliability. Technicians, engineers, and myself have usedOEM parts for the work. This is a wonderful sports car for theenthusiast that can appreciate the experience and loves working on themtoo.

This specific 944 originates from New Jersey according to the Carfax,which is clean. No accidents whatsoever. This vehicle was garaged in thewinters after a thorough clay bar and hand wax by professionals.

Mileage on this 944 was at 122K before the engine was rebuilt, about 2Kmiles driven on it after the rebuild. Although most of the work was doneby us, Midwest Performance Cars and Windy City Engineering handled agreat portion as well. This is the perfect car for someone who loves theexperience of driving a Porsche.

The 944 has seen a surge in popularity lately and the value of thesecars will continue to go up, this 944 is excellently maintained. I willinclude an in-depth list of all the maintenance at the bottom of this listing.

This is an iconic German sports car that features a 2.5L inline4-cylinder engine with an efficiently geared 5 speed manualtransmission. This Porsche was designed for incredible handling; truerear wheel drive pushes this 2-door hatchback matched with 50/50 weightdistribution.

In 1984, Car and Driver named the Porsche 944 the Best Handling importedcar in the world, competing against the Porsche 911, Toyota Supra,Ferrari Quattrovalvole, and 6 others. In their words, ". . .the 944 wonoverall simply because, in its remarkably complex but also wonderfullyintegrated way, it has no all-around equal." And others,"Confidence-inspiring. Easy to learn. Maintenance Info:
Completely overhauled, all receipts detailing the rebuild come with thecar. Has only seen Mobil 1 full synthetic and 93 octane premium gas. Theentire process was taken with extreme care and attention to detail.Specialized tools were purchased for precise adjustments and aprofessional was called in if ever necessary. The result was worth it; hundreds of hours of work pays off to make this engine is impeccable.

Engine:
Engine block was degreased, cleaned, and received a new cross-hatch oncylinder walls. Crankshaft measured for straightness and balance,pistons and rods were measured to be in specifications and polished.Replaced freeze plugs. Cylinder head was disassembled and degreased;springs, seats, and valves were precisely calibrated; guides and sealswere replaced. Windy City Engineering professionally performed all theabove work.

All new Victor Reinz upper and lower seals, gaskets, bushings, andwashers. 12.9 strength bolts were used for components all over theengine and torque specs were respected wherever noted. All new OEMbearings used. Clearances measured for crankshaft, main bearings and rodbearings replaced, new piston rings, rod studs torqued in steps toexacting spec, all new anaerobic sealant applied. Harmonic balancerscalibrated and resealed. New motor mounts. Hydraulic lifters wereinspected and placed in the same order. Camshaft was inspected and OK'd,all new seals and torqued with a brand new triple square bolt. Oilcooler degreased and resealed.

Brakes and Clutch:
Brand new slotted and drilled zinc-coated disc rotors all around coupledwith ceramic dust-minimizing pads. New front end ball joints, wheelbearings, 2 new calipers, and new hardware for all calipers. Emergencybrake needs an adjustment. NewSachs clutch disc, new pressure plate, new pilot and throwout bearings,and machined flywheel. Clutch fork cleaned and regreased. New clutchmaster and slave cylinders. New hard line leading to power steeringpump.

Miscellaneous:
New starter, fuel filter, fluids, alternator, O2 sensor, wipers, airfilter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor. New InterstateBattery with warranty, starts the car right up. New dashboard (nocracks!) and radio, aftermarket speakers. Rear seats removed. Sunroofworks great, button has a little crack in it but works fine. Throttlebody was degreased and fitted with all new seals. Original spare tireinspected by shop and in good working order. All new water pump,pulleys, and idlers; belts for timing, harmonic balancers, alternator,and power steering replaced. New thermostat, water temp sensor, and old waterhoses were replaced preventatively. Rear defrost works wonderfully.
