Description

The Porsche 968 was the final evolution in the line of four cylinder, front engine, rear drive cars that started with the Porsche 924. Built from 1992-1995 in the Porsche factory at Zuffenhausen, the 968 had a 3.0 liter, naturally aspirated engine that produced 236 HP & 225 ft/lb of torque, making it the most powerful 4 cylinder engine sold in a production car to that time. It was mated to a 6 speed, rear-mounted transmission to give it a near perfect balance on the street or track. The combination of horsepower, tourque and balance make it a joy to drive in town or on the twisties! Low production numbers make it the rarest of the line and Hagerty has just named it #3 on their new list of collectible classics that they believe will increase in value.
I have owned and enjoyed this car since 2011, and have all service records from 2008, when it passed through a dealer and ,unfortunately, previous records were lost. I will be happy to provide answers regarding it's service history, upon request, to the best of my ability. The big service question regarding 968's is that of timing belt replacement. The belt was replaced in 1/08 at 33,066 miles. The car has a current Pennsylvania State Inspection good to 10/16.
A unique feature of this car is the custom stereo installation that audiophiles will enjoy - even at highway speeds!. It has an Alpine CDE-HD149BT receiver with remote, HD radio, Bluetooth, iPod and Sirius capability; Focal 100 VRS 4" component speaker set; JL Audio 300/4 300 watt amp; JL Audio 250/1 250 watt subwoofer amp; and a subwoofer built into a custom panel at the rear of the cockpit. Beside providing amazing sound, the installation makes the car one of a kind, as you can see when you view the pictures.
It also has a Viper 1002 alarm system with remote trunk release installed.
The car runs and drives perfectly, fast and tight - not much more that I can say here about that.
Everything works properly and the car is in very good overall condition - a very nice clean driver - except where noted below.
Now for the negative stuff:
The following imperfections due to normal wear and tear are hereby noted: some stone chips (filled in) on front bumper fenders and hood; some scratches on hood, trunk lid, and fenders; some very shallow dings on tops of front fenders; power steering reservoir has some cracking above the fluid level line; plastic interior windshield trim is somewhat misshapen from age and heat; windshield has a chip (<1/8" - passes Pennsylvania State Inspection); power door lock on passenger door does not lock using power lock button or remote - will unlock using same - can be locked using lock button or key.
Please note that none of the minor cosmetic flaws noted are visible in the photos. They are being disclosed so that there will be no surprises or disappointments. All prospective buyers are strongly encouraged to see the car in person and to take it for a test drive so you know exactly what you are bidding on. You are also encouraged to have the car inspected by the mechanic of your choice (at your expense, and locally of course) before you bid.
Thanks for looking and don't let the Fall driving season pass you by without this beautiful Porsche Cabriolet!
