Description
Ninemeister 996
Club Sport, Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Manual, 82,000 miles, Ocean Blue. One
off track prepared 1998 911 3.4 Carrera 2 Manual Coupe.
Purchased by myself in June 2014 with a GT3 focused track car project in mind, this 996 has come a long way in the last 12 months. Recently returning from a trip to Spa Francorchamps, spending 2 wonderful days on the circuit, the car has exceeded my expectations. However, regretfully I have now decided to offer the car for sale as other projects and a lack of time to enjoy the car fully are looming.
Here’s the full storey, but feel free to skip to the Spec and details further below!
The car was stolen and subsequently recovered in 2004. It had suffered some panel damage mainly to the front right wing, front bumper and rear bumper and cross member. The engine had also been revved to destruction. The insurance company decided it was beyond economical repair and paid out the owner for his loss, recording the car as a Category D insurance loss.
The car was then Purchased by the owner of a large commercial transportation repair and maintenance facility in Manchester. He commissioned a local well established sports and prestige auto repair company to carry out the required repair work using genuine new and used parts as required. In the process, they carried out some subtle modifications such as the fitment of a GT3 style aero front bumper, and 996 mk2 GT3 side sills and a face-lifted rear bumper.
Another used 3.4 engine was also sourced (which had covered 10,000 miles less than the original) and fitted in place of the damaged unit. The car was then inspected, MOT’d and put back on the road. It then remained a weekend toy with the same owner for around 10 years.
In the summer of 2014, the owner sold the property where he had been storing a number of various vehicles including the 996 and so offered several of the vehicles for sale locally. Being a Porsche fan and knowing the owner of the repair shop who carried out the original repairs, I was put in touch with the seller and I purchased the car for myself.
Already owning a track focused mk2 Golf GTi, and looking for another (more serious) car for the purpose, I hatched the plan to convert the 996 into a GT3 style fast road and track day car with a trip to Spa with the car being my ultimate goal.
Having owned several Porsches previously, and knowing some of the local Specialists here in the North West, Ninemeister were commissioned to carry out the conversion work.
After around 3 months, the car made its track debut at Donnington for a ‘shake down’ in September 2014. Further Track days at Oulton Park and Anglesey were used to fine tune the car before its big trip to Spa in July this year. It drove to Spa where it spent 2 days on the track running perfectly before driving me home with no issues. The Handling is impeccable and by far the cars best feature. A great fun car, built for Reliable track day use, this car is 8/10ths the fun of a GT3 for 1/3rd of the purchase cost.
