We have owned this car for just over a year and it is a pleasure to drive all year round. The Karmann styling is striking and the electric convertible hardtop panoramic roof is the perfect solution to the vagaries of the British weather.
When the sun shines the car is a sporty open top tourer at the touch of a button with the roof cleverly automatically folded into the bootspace. When it doesn't, the panoramic glass roof provides full weather protection and all of the advantages of a standard saloon car, seating four adults in comfort and style in the all leather black interior. And, as my wife points out, she has beautiful haunches!
With just 49,820 miles on the clock, this is a rare excellent low mileage example of this model offered in outstanding condition and a worthy and cost effective rival to the Mercedes SLK. The mileage may creep up slightly by the end of the auction as the car is in occasional use.
The private plate E10 ASW (which we understand to be worth between £300 & £400 on its own) is included in the sale.
The 19.dci Renault diesel unit delivers 130 bhp with plenty of power and mid range torque through the slick 6 speed manual gearbox. It provides a tight and satisfying drive when cornering or taking on the lanes with the roof down yet still returns well over 40 mpg in general local running. Has returned over 50mpg on motorway commuting journeys
Plenty of load space in the boot for two suitcases with the roof folded down (space doubles when roof up) and everything in full working order, including keyless entry & start; electric windows; electric heated mirrors; ABS; aircon; traction control; front & rear fogs; automatic lights & radio CD.
There is no service history with the car (we did not receive it on purchase) but the computerised display will soon tell you when servicing is required .. currently in another 7,200 milesand we had it fully serviced by a Renault mechanic we know just over 4,000 miles ago. We have all the MoT certificates going back which authenticate the mileage and the current MoT runs until May 2016. Also taxed until the end of August. There are good tyres all round with plenty of mileage in them yet, fitted to the 7 spoke 17" alloy wheels which set off the look of the car nicely.
You will probably have read in your research that this model has a reputation for iffy window electrics which are prone to failure. We have had the electric window motor modules replaced where necessary by Renault under warranty for your peace of mind in this regard. What you may be unaware of is that Renault UK recognise this issue and will contribute 70% of the cost of replacement of these parts up until the car is 10 years old. They do not publicise the fact for obvious reasons!
For an 8 year old car, the bodywork is immaculate and difficult to fault. If I were being extra picky, I would point out some flaking of the polyurethane coating at the edges of the front bumper and one slight ding on the driver's door courtesy of some unidentified Herbert parked next to it at some point. You have to look hard to see it. Some inevitable stone chipping to the front end but very few of those, even for this low mileage. All in all well above average for the year.
Car is located in WR5 just south of Worcester some 10 minutes from J7 M5 and from J1 M50.
