Description
Rover 1970 P6B Estate 3500 Estoura Series 1
made by FLM Panelcraft U.K. who supplied the bodies of the P6 to Rover with the blessing of Rover using fully assembled carsand mostly standard panels. The roofline sweeps down toward the rear, giving it a 'sat on' look and gives the impression of movement even atrest. This is an early version that uses a re worked boot lid as thetailgate, the later cars had exposed tailgate hinges and a higher lineto the rear and a less squat look and used a Mk II Cortina tailgate.
Other than the fact that there is so much more room in the car itis very much a standard P6 to drive. This car was sold new in the UK and then converted to an Estate, a very expensive process, then it was brought to Australia very soon after and sold. He had some bad work done on the car and replaced the front grille and bonnet with later Series 2 ones. I purchased this from the second owner and drove it for a little while before deciding to remover the transmission to fix the rear main oil seal. I found that the car was in a bit of a state and had a bit of rust in it, so pulled all the panels off the car and had the rust cut out and repaired properly and the panels painted including a Series 1 bonnet. Transmission was reconditioned and the motor removed and sent off to have the rear oil seal replaced, while at the workshop the factory burnt down and landed on the engine, though it looked OK we assumed that it was damaged, so acquired another engine from a known source to replace it, though original engine is sill available. Car is still in pieces and needs a fair amount of assembly and restoration.
Car owes me at least twice starting point but I understand that is not what I will get. I also bought a one owner 3500 Series 1 to use as spares car or separate restoration project, if not required can split but starting price is unchanged. Comes with all parts and many spares to finish, with a lot of expensive new parts included. If you want an almost unique car it has to be sold as I have now nowhere to store it and will not be able to finish it. My 1947 P2 16 also has to be sold. If you are overseas you can have it shipped anywhere,
