Saab 9-5 SE (1998) 4D Sedan auto (2.3L - Turbo MPFI)

I am selling my much loved Saab 95. This is a first year manufacture of 1997/8
I have a numb er of Saabs but given money is now more tight that ever I have to part with at least one of them. There is only token registration on the vehicle as I can only ever pay for 3 months at a time, so sorry if you are aiming for long registration in the bargain.
This is a good solid car but it isn't like new, well the paint is faded on the roof and part of the boot lid. A globe needs replacing in the overhead seat warning light, the alarm battery needs replacing, the car gives you a warning every few weeks, I just hit the info button and it goes away. You can get and fit a new battery simply, or if you are lucky you can land a complete unit for exchange. BJ Autos I have been told is a good place to go. The key (only one with alarm and door fob) could use a new battery as well while I mentioning batteries. I do have a spare fob which would need to be programmed to the car. I think Barry at BJs can do this - he is a Saab specialist.
What have I done in the last year:
New tires all round
Replaced heater core - now the weather is hot I think I could have maybe waited until winter - but its done now.
Replaced heater valve under bonnet and some heater hoses.
Checked and use tow bar so I know all the electrics work
Had pixels fixed on display
Replaced indicator lights left and right on front they can break their mountings over time, so always keep an eye on them.
Things I would look at after sale:
Get breaks checked - always do this when getting a second hand car, just for piece of mind and to know when to do a front or back change.
Always replace the drive belt. There is nothing wrong with the belt as I see it, but as a precaution and again for peace of mind just change it, they aren't expensive.
Replace all the small air lines. I was going to do this but I'm getting a bit stiff about the joints and all; the leaning over the car is costly. The hoses are about $5 a metre, $7 if you use coloured sylicone. 3 metres does the air lines. I know one line has a leak, as now and again the engine stalls. Starts immediately and is fine, so one of the lines has a leak; you either mess about chasing the leak or just do all the lines. Maybe PCV valve as well - red and white plastic one way valve, again inexpensive and easy to get from ebay. You could be really clever and get one for about $20 in aluminium from Poland - up to you.
Things I supply with the car and could use changes:
A set of rear shocks and springs (used but stable) - when replacing the rear shocks on a 95 it takes about 2 hours to do both sides and is about the simplest job you can ever do on a car. 8 bolts in total
Front passenger side window has scratched tinting, but I do have a replacement window, just didn't get around to putting it in. About an hours work - you can look up guides on the Saab sites about the place. There might even be one on youtube. The job isn't hard, just fiddly, so always take your time.
I also have the Griffin boot lid lights surrounds. I got it from the UK and was going to put it on, but as I am also restoring a Saab 9000 Griffin I never got around to fitting this. Worth about $150 if you can get them, so this pone will come with the car.
This has been my daily driver for a while and is the most comfortable car I have ever driven. It has 265000 ks on the clock but there is heaps of pull in the engine and it doesn't sit around when you put your foot down; and that SPORTS button on the shifter really does work, a hiuge difference in power.
Noted cosmetic things:
The drivers seat is worn, which you would expect with so many Ks
The shifters protective blind is missing. You can get a replacement of ebay for about $65, they usually only last 10 years and are also fiddly to put in -- if you do replace it, make sure you see some videos on how it is done. Best understand things before breaking them.
The tires have done about 2000 kilometres, so they will last quite a few years yet.
There are no oil or coolant leaks. But with all turbos, just make sure you do check lines and hoses every month or so -- things do get pretty hot with these engines and hoses do perish over time.
The carpet inside needs to be restretched to meat some of the bulk heads again. I don't know how to do this and don't want to try just in case I do something stupid. Though, if you keep on eye on UPullit for when a 95 comes in, you can get a whole replacement for about $100 I think. I get many parts from them for my older Saabs.
On the back left hand guard, top corner is a tennis ball sized dent. Don't know how it got there, but I figured some dick in a carpark left me the hello note.
Air conditioner when set at low is about 15 Celcius and rather cool, so I am happy with this myself.
There is no jack -- only realized this this morning - In my dotage I probably left it on the side of the road during a tire repair. UPullit has them for about $20, or Supercheap for about $60
I think I have said enough, pointed out the good the bad and the ugly. I am not asking a huge amount for the car, and it is cheap to register. You can also have this as a 'P' plated car in South Australia because of its excellent safety rating. If you were ever going to have a car accident, just make sure you are in a Saab; seriously, they look great and just might save your life one day.
