Description
104000 miles, Full service history, red, MOT until February 2016, everything works.
I always prefer to tell a story about the car, including all the faults, so hopefully if you are interested and come and see the car, you will already know all its issues. Pointless me hiding anything, wasting your time and mine.
DSG AUTO Gearbox silky smooth and extremely quick gear change. If you haven’t come across this gearbox before, it’s great, and with a few choices to use it. You can run it in fully auto mode, this has standard or sports.
You can change gear on the flappy paddle controls on the steering wheel, get yourself a false moustache and pretend you are Nigel Mansell.
Finally slip the gear lever over to the left, and push it sequential style up of down.
Cruise control,
Multifunction trip computer, displays average mgp, overall average mpg, live mpg, outside temperature, miles to empty, over speed warning, average speed, etc
Radio, CD, MP3, Aux in, including a multifunction steering wheel for all controls
Electric windows front and rear,
Folding Electric Mirrors, I had the covers painted in gloss black to match the wheels
Factory rear window tints
Air-conditioning digital auto climate control, you have different temperature settings for driver or passenger.
Factory alarm and immobiliser
Tyre pressure monitor
All the usual 3x3 rear seat belts, air bags, ISOFIC car seat fixing, power steering, traction control
Miltek sports exhaust, don’t worry it’s not a tin can noise box, it is a top of the range item which if you listen carefully you can just hear it if you want to. The exhaust is from the cat back, so it’s all still fully road legal, functioning save the polar bears car.
Team Heko wind deflectors for all four windows, cuts the noise down a little with the windows open.
Four 18” alloys, I had painted gloss black, fitted with four new Avon ZZR tyres about a year ago.
Floor mats, and a tailored to fit rear rubber boot mat.
There is a full Seat Main Dealer service history up to 84,000 miles, including the cam belt change at 80,000 miles. After that, it still has a full history, but by local independent dealers, still to Seat specifications.
I have every receipt for this car, from service, to tyres, belts to exhaust. All service and hand books are included in the original service wallet pack.
The car is a joy to drive, I am a mature driver (not according to the wife, apparently men never grow up?) and the car has been well looked after and cared for.
On Ebay it seems to be a trend of what’s the lowest you will take / send an offer and you have not even seen the car, I don’t see how you can send an offer when you don’t know what you’re buying?
As mentioned I am old school, I positively encourage you to come and view, check over, kick tyres, look at things you and I don’t even know what the f@@’ they are for and go yeah mate looks good. If you like the car, it is fully insured, taxed and road legal, meaning if you’re insurance allows you to drive other cars, off we go for a test drive. If you’re not insured, I can drive you to a local quite non highways road, and you can have a go there.
I am available after 6pm almost every day, quite a few Saturday afternoons, almost every Sunday & Monday. I have electricity, lead light, powerful workshop light, and drive up ramps, trolley jack, and an odd hammer here or there. Kettle with water in it, tea, coffee, milk and ever sugar, but you bring the biscuits!
In case you are from many many miles away, so you are forewarned about any imperfections on the car before you travel all that way only to see faults you were not expecting, I know of the following faults/issues/comments.
Three supermarket type dings, one in the drivers door, one in the passenger, and one in the OSR door.
Two small paint chips on the rear bumper, where being very old and stupid I tried to load a push bike in the boot and quickly realised I got it wrong again! I would guess around 5mm long each?
The bonnet, two front wings and front bumper have what I would say is more than average stone chip issues. I have tried to capture this in one of the photos, but with the quality of photos on ebay/ the net, it doesn’t look as bad as it is when you’re stood in front of it.
The car has covered just over 100,0000 miles and is coming up to eight years old, so it does have age related marks etc etc.
I had the wheels repainted in gloss black (they were matt) but being a plank I have managed to gently kerb and scrape three of them no less. I have sprayed over the marks so it is not as stand out and noticeable. I think they look just about ok, but that with my eye sight at 90 paces in the dark with one eye shut
Gearbox – Not too long after I first brought this car, I was having a little blast out in it, singing away, when suddenly lots of smoke was seen in the rear window. The car lost drive, so I had it recovered to my mechanic. Apparently when the Seat main dealer last changed the Auto DSG oil, they fitted the oil filter incorrectly, it allowed pressure to build up, and it popped the plastic oil filter housing, dumping the oil everywhere. The gearbox was fully refilled with oil, all diagnostic jobbies carried out, and I was told “go use it see how you get on, I think you have been lucky!” Needless to say, it was lovely for 4 or 5 months, then all of a sudden it would occasionally change gear on its own when it wasn’t meant to. Back it went, full check and overhaul by a Seat factory technician with the computer plugged in and he concluded the control valve module box main thingy me bob was at fault, possibly caused by the gearbox oil loss. So this was stripped, sent to the manufactures, and they recondition/rebuild/renew. Since I have had this done, the gearbox has covered about 8,000 trouble free miles. It comes with the remainder of the warranty, so you are safe in the knowledge it is now trouble free and will give many many years of service.
Tyres are probably 50% worn at the front, and all good at the rear.
When on full lock, and gently popping up or down a kerb (or running a penguin over) there is a creak from the front suspension.
When at a standstill and you rock the steering wheel, you can hear a clonk, I was told this was the wheels, not sure I agree.
The front end rumbles a little, but I put this down to the large 18” wheels with silly low profile tyres.
I genuinely can’t think of any other issues, it really is a lovely quick fun to drive car.
The reason for me selling it is I have had my fun, and want to try a Focus ST now. I will probably regret it as this car really is a lovely fun to drive quick car, the auto box is a pleasure to use and drive, it is so smooth and sporty at the same time.
I live in Cambridge itself, there is a regular bus service, train station, and we even have Cambridge airport if you want to fly in. Happy to pick you up from any of these.
Ring, text, call or mail me with any questions you have, I will try my best to answer them as quickly as possible.
I am one of those people who like cars, I am not rich so to buy my next toy, I have to sell this. I fancy a Focus ST, so this has to go to pay for that. I am really hoping the next car will be as fun and a joy to drive like this has been. The Auto box really makes driving fun, quick and effortless.
