Description

Hello & welcome to my sale.
Here we have my 2002 Seat Leon Cupra 1.8 20 Valve Turbo in black. I bought this car in January 2015 as a more economical run-around, replacing my old Toyota Hilux. It has been a lot of fun and I've enjoyed owning it over the last 10 months but I am just not a car person and have jumped back onto the 4x4 wagon with my second Hilux. The car starts on the first flick of the key and drives great. There's plenty of low down power but once the boost kicks in, it absolutely flies. I have fitted all new silicone breather pipes to replace the old, deteriorated rubber hoses which were drawing air in and giving lean running. A few months ago, I installed a turbo - pancake boost pipe (hot pipe) from the AGU variant engine which uses jubilee clips as opposed to the troublesome VW designed snap ring connection, which often leaks boost resulting in a loss of power. I have also fitted a RamAir cone type filter (as you can see in the engine bay photo) which sounds great. This particular model has the AUQ engine which has previously been re-mapped to produce within the region of 200-220 BHP. Having said that, I was able to achieve 29MPG on my weekly run to work and back which involves a mix of hills, congestion and the opportunity to give the car a good blast. It is capable of returning 40MPG on a good run, thanks to the 6 speed gearbox. The car has 4 BBS alloys with low profile tyres and is sat on adjustable coilers an all four corners. I have receipts documenting within the region of £1,300 being invested into the motor since I have owned it. I have carried out an extensive range of tasks / improvements which are listed below:
- Timing belt & water pump replaced at 100,000 miles (January)
- Thermostat & Gakset (January)
- Coolant flush and replace (January)
- Oil & filter service (January)
- RamAir Induction kit (Cone Type) with laser cut metal housing (February)
- 4x NGK Spark Plugs (February)
- 4x Ignition Coils (February)
- Bosch MAF (February)
- N/S Steering Arm Bush (February)
- 4 Wheel Alignment (February)
- Engine Temperature Sensor (March)
- Clutch Pedal, Clips & Bush (March)
- Oil & filter service (May)
- N/S Steering Arm Ball Joint (July)
- Rear Engine Mounting (July)
- Tracking (July)
- Throttle body clean & alignment (July)
- Oil Pick-up Pipe (Strainer) (August)
- Full engine flush (See Below)
The engine has had an extensive flush to remove carbon deposits and sludge buildup which had amalgamated through the use of semi synthetic oil by the previous owner - quite a common problem with the 1.8T engines. These engines must have their oil replaced at every 5,000 miles and they must be run on a 5w40 fully synthetic engine oil. The flush involved removal of the cam cover and strong detergents being pumped around the engine block and cylinder head which remove the buildup. The sump was also dropped and cleaned as well as fitting a new oil pick-up pipe. Providing the engine is always run on 5w40 fully synthetic oil and changed at the correct intervals, this should never be a problem again.
There are a few age related marks which I have tried to show in a few of the photos. The front passengers side bumper has been caught slightly at some stage in its life and there is a scuff to the rear drivers side door and door handle which have been polished out and touched in. Someone also appears to have opened the drivers side door into something at some point in its life, which has left a slight dent just near the door handle. The drivers side seat also has the usual bolster wear. Take a look through the photos and you will get an idea but they really don't let the car down. It does look great. I will also be replacing the passenger side electric wing mirror next week, as a local delinquent decided to leave it hanging a few nights ago. I have managed to temporarily repair the wing mirror, but I'd rather it was done properly.
If you have any questions, or if you would like to come and see the car, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will respond to emails as quickly as possible, or you can call me on 0773 1138 442 (9am - 8pm). The car is currently SORN, so unfortunately, there will not be any test drives. You can by all means hear it running and inspect as you wish and all you need to do to drive it away, is tax it online and insure it. This sale is strictly cash on collection and I ask that the winning bidder / buyer makes a £150 deposit via PayPal within 6 hours of the auction ending. The winning bidder / buyer must collect the car within 4 days of the sale ending. The car is advertised locally, so I reserve the right to remove it from auction at any time.
Best of luck and thanks for looking!
-Tom
