Description

I listed this car a couple of weeks ago here on eBay and had tons of inquiries and was posed a ton of scenarios that strayed far from what I am doing here. I’m going to list this here on eBay one more time, but before you read on, let me clarify what I am doing here. I am selling my Cobra. Nothing more. I do not offer any financing. I do not transport cars, nor am I also an auto transport company as one gentleman said he read it in my listing. Actually, he didn’t! I am not interested in a trade. I will not hold a check as I won’t take a check. I do not fill out export paperwork. I have no knowledge for customs processes of any country. I will not meet you at 1 o’clock in the morning to see the car.daytime only! You may not make payments to me until the car is paid off while I “hang on to it” as collateral until you pay it off. I do not have any information about the process of how a car is secured in a shipping container. I can answer no questions about insurance, what it costs, or the name of a good insurance agent. You must have ALL the moneyat once..American money..it’s simple. It doesn’t matter to me how bad you want the car. I know you want the car, but I am only going to sell it for ALL the cash. And please stop the lowball offers. I’m not financially destitute, I owe no money on it and if it doesn’t sell, I’m pretty ok keeping it.
This is a Factory Five Racing MKll Shelby Cobra Replica. It was built and never driven more than a few miles. After the car was built, I needed to get it out of the facility and I had just built the facility in Northern Wisconsin to store it, so I shipped it here and this is where it has been. It doesn’t get driven as I am on a gravel road and that’s just not going to happen. Health issues and divorce have me re-evaluating my priorities and since this is never used, time to move on.
The engine started out as a Ford 5.0 H.O Roller Motor. We sent it to Faster 5.0 and they did the long block. Trick Flow Twisted Wedge Heads and Cam. New Crank, Bored with New Pistons and Rods, Crank and all the rest of the guts, even a powder coated block to match the car. I have any build sheets that came with work performance and parts and it will go to the new owner. That should answer many questions. We had the Tremec rebuilt using a Roush gear set. It’s an excellent improvement over the stock gearsit’s much more long legged now. I wanted to stay more true to the original and opted for a carb to keep it simple. The carb was ordered built to the engine specs and powder coated red to match. The build sheet goes with it. Since the donor car started out as a 1988, it had the 4 bolt everything, including the 8.8 rear end. It was immediately converted to 5 lug spindles and rear axles also. Of course all brakes and parts were new. Wheels are staggered and I thought, a great looking enhancement to the overall look. Of course wheels/tires were all new. The hood had a hinge kit installed, but I didn’t like the unfinished look of the under side of the hood, so I had that finished as well. The crappy external trunk hinges were tossed in favor of hidden hinges that actually work and won’t end up rusty and cracking. The inside of the trunk lid was finished as well. The instruments are Dolphin and are electronic, the build sheets are included. Some extras like the chrome roll bar and eustachions, chrome bumper jacks, wind wings and carbon fiber spats were added to the car. Much effort was taken to get the car body straight and gaps nice. I’ve seen a zillion Cobra replicas and most fall sadly short in this area. It’s why I spent the extra money to get this nice.
All this being said, the car only has a few miles on it and a few things should be attended to. I never did the speedo calibration. It’s a matter of pushing buttons along with your gps or chase car to get the mph right on. Directions how are in the build sheet. It was also never put on a Dyno. The carb and timing could be optimized somewhat beyond where it is now. It was never tweaked mostly because it wasn’t broken in to where it could be safely pushed. Lastly, the engine has not been broken in so when the lucky new owner gets it, following the builders directions for breaking in should probably be observed.
Car has a clear title, in my name, in hand. It is titled as a 1965 Shelby Cobra.
I am also putting the car up for sale locally and reserve the right to end this listing early.
The body and paint work was done by Jeff Anderson in Orlando Florida. Jeff is the brother of NHRA Pro Stock Champion Driver Greg Anderson. Jeff is a veteran body and paint man and does nothing but high end Customs, Rods and Restorations and tons of stuff that ends up at Barrett-Jackson. The fiberglass on this Cobra was cured out over the course of a few years before body work was even started. The body and paint process took 6 months as he is quite meticulous in making sure all is cured before venturing into the next step of the process. I can’t even count how many times we took the body off the chassis and put it back on so he could check for fitment and straightness. The quality of the paint and body on this car is excellent and was well worth the wait.
