I bought this in July 2008 and its been looked after by ourselves and the local Smart specialist ever since. Great little car for running around locally or, with the modifications that have been made, will also hold its own on the daily motorway/commuter run.
Cheap to run, normally gets around 50-60mpg, and cheap to insure particularly with specialist insurers. Road Tax only £30 for 12 months.
I used this car until last year for daily commuting round the M25 from Kent to Berkshire and it never let me down once in 5 years no matter what the roads threw at it. Only selling now as I have become a home worker and don't need to commute anymore.
This car comes with a partial stamped service history (up to 46,401 miles) and from then on it has been serviced by myself (something that is easy to do for any competent home mechanic). Two working keys and full documentation pack (handbook, Service book etc) included in the sale as is the private number plate (s70Occ).
The oil and oil filter has been changed every 5000 miles (rather than the manufacturers recommended 10,000 schedule) using Mobile 1 fully synth oil to keep the engine running clean and efficiently and, unlike some other Smarts, it burns no oil because of it.
It has just been MOT'd yesterday and the front top mounts replaced on both sides (at a cost of £225) by the local Smart specialist garage so it drives perfectly.
The rest of the Good Points (Exterior and Interior):
15" Coreline Alloys fitted with 175 (front) and 195 (rear) tyres which really makes the car hold the road like a go-kart. Factory fitted Smart sound package (which includes Tweeters and Base boxes fitted to the normal speakers) Factory fitted heated leather seats in perfect working condition.Factory Fitted Steering wheel Paddle Shift gear change (F1 style which improves the standard stick shift on these cars :-) )Full panoramic glass roof with sliding sunshade. Factory fitted Dash Pods (Rev Counter and Clock - Originally, see below).Aftermarket X Gauge fitted - Fits instead of the original Clock Pod and allows realtime monitoring of Engine and Turbo performance as well as other parameters. Michalak Headlight Eyebrows, Mirror Caps and Door Handle inserts in Carbon Fibre finish (these are the high quality German designer items not cheap copies from china). Angel Eye headlights fitted. Black Brabus Front grill containing Fog lights (replaced the standard Silver grill which just doesn't look right on a black car). 135dB Stebel Nautilus Airhorn (useful as other road users sometimes don't realise how fast you are approaching..)
Good Points (Performance):
Stage 2 performance Digitec engine Re-map (really improves the performance without impacting the fuel consumption)Forge Silicon Inter-cooler and TIK pipes (fitted using high quality Jubilee Zinc protected hose clips)Michalak High flow Air Intake in Carbon Fibre finishITG Performance Air filter (can be cleaned and re-oiled, no more throwing away paper filters)Oil filter fitting modified to use the more modern/efficient and easily available spin on cartridge filters rather than the standard Smart paper filter. Bad Points:
There aren't any really. There are a few marks on the Door handles (from over exuberant opening of the doors against a wall) and some marks on the front panel from normal stones etc that any used car would be subject to but that's honestly about it.
