1971 Studebaker Avanti Avanti 1971

In 1984 this Avanti was returned to the factory for a "Blake Update". Chrome bumpers were removed and replaced with the Fiberglass units. The front turning signals were glassed in and refitted under the front bumper. The back up lighting was turned into additional brake lighting for safety reasons and the back up lighting was moved to both sides of the license plate. The car was then stripped and repainted with the original color, Firemist. Several clear coats were applied for high gloss. The original 350 was removed along with the 2 speed original transmission and a new GM 350/290 HP Crate motor and a new 700 R-4 transmission installed by a professional. Both coupled to a Posi-Traction 373 Rear end The car's floor, doors and roof areas have been Dyna-Matted to reduce sound.
The car sounds and runs great and cruises 75 mph at 2,000 RPM. Since the engine and trannie replacement, I have driven the car an estimated 600 miles.
