Description
This car gets a lot of attention so if you don't like attention don't buy this car.
Okay, I warned you.
While it looks completely stock, (except for the chrome wheels) it is anything but. The engine is a ZZ4 Crate Engine from GM Performance - go onto their website and look it up for specs, but very briefly it's a 350ci Chevy w/ 4 bolt main block, aluminum heads, roller cam, etc. It makes 350 HP & 400 Lb Ft of Torque. The transmission is a 4L60 (4 speed auto). The crate engine was brand new when I installed it about 12,000 miles ago and the trans was completely rebuilt at the same time. The rear end is a Ford 8" with a 3:80.1 gear ratio, it is not a posi.
The front suspension is original to the car but has a Turner Brake Kit installed (11" Disc Brakes). The rear brakes are the 10" drums that came with the Ford rear end. While it does not have Power Steering or Power Brakes it steers and stops very well, I will say however that without Power Steering parking lot maneuvers are a bit of a workout.
The tires are Wide-White Radials from American Classic and have a lot of tread left.
The interior was done in period correct cloth. The gauges are from "Classic Instruments" and were fit into the existing enclosure via custom panel. There is a gear select or "prndl" gauge in what was originally an accessory clock enclosure - visible in the photo showing the steering wheel and gauges, it's the one just below the gauge cluster, centered on the column.
The audio head-unit is equipped with hands free Bluetooth, you can also stream music through it from your phone so you can listen to your favorite music as you cruise down the highway.
Finally, while this car shows very well - It won 1st in class the last 3 years running at the annual Studebaker Zone Meet @ La Palma Park in Anaheim, CA - it is NOT PERFECT. I finished the build in 2001 and have been driving and enjoying it ever since then, so it has what you would expect to find on a 16 yr old paint job, eg; some very minor rock chips and scratches, but it still shines up nicely and will still win trophies.
The reason for the sale is that I am downsizing and going out on the road as a full time rv'r, so rather than let her sit I am going to send her to a new home and hopefully to someone who will enjoy her as much as I have.
Almost forgot; the display mat shown in the last photo goes with the car.
P.S. I will be her during the upcoming week so the mileage will be 50-100 miles higher that what is listed in the ad.
