Description
This 1948 is a crowd pleaser everywhere it goes. It is amazing how many people relate to Studebakers of this era. The Dupont Lemon-Glo Yellow accented with blue pearl above a magenta, violet and purple sweep with gold pearl below makes this hard to miss. It's origional rebirth was as a pro-street drag car, tubbed, rollbar, etc. I decided to return it to be a simple and smooth refinement of an already advanced design .
I have owned and enjoyed this car for almost 20 years. It is only for sale because of my age and that I have been 'thinning the heard' for the past several years. Now it is time to find a new home for "Twedbrd", someone who will take care of it and contumue to keep it on the road. The car was built well and has always been trustworthy and reliable. I have just taken the car out of winter storage and have not been able to drive it much due to the weather.
As far as I know, everything is in working order with the exception of the spedomoter cable. Also, it appears thet a seal may have leaked from the power booster/master cylander over the winter. The paint on the lower half of the booster has wrinkled. The wing window has a crack. (See photo for both).
The only thing that you might want to change are the guages. They were in the car when I bought it, and I just never got around to buying new ones. I put a smoke pexiglass panel over them years age. All the wiring has been replaced.
I have toured both the "Hot Rod Power Tour" and the "Americruise". This car has taken best of show trophies. It won first place in its class at the International Studebaker show. I have always gotten a trophy with this car.
I am just looking for a good home for this car!
