1999 Subaru Impreza WRX Type R STi V6 Limited
This car was built in December 1999. It is a Version 6 STi Limited Edition ‘Type R’, which refers to its two door body shell and was sold only in the home market of Japan. STi stands for Subaru Technica International, a subsidiary of Subaru, founded to engineer, manage and promote Subaru’s motorsport activities. In the early years of Impreza production, cars that were STi Versions, were taken from the main production line and finished by hand with uprated parts at the special factory STi facility in the Tokyo suburb of Mitaka. In later years, these uprated STi parts were fitted to selected cars while still on the main production line.
The introduction of the Type R coincided with the first year of the new world rally formula, WRC which replaced the previous Group A category. So it was the Type R body shell that Subaru chose to be the foundation of their first WRC rally car. It was an instant success and gave Subaru their 3rd World Rally Manufacturers’ title. The specification of the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) cars far exceeds that available to us here in the UK and because of that, JDM cars are rare and highly sought after here. However, the choice of components used in the high performance versions of the Impreza in Japan not only made the cars more exciting to drive, they helped the motorsport subsidiary to ‘homologate’ key components for use in WRC and Group N rallying teams.

Imported to the UK in August 2015, this is a very tidy example of this very rare and exciting JDM Impreza. Further stats for this car are easy to find on the pages of theclub website, but notable items are the Red Top STi engine, Limited Edition blue front seats, close ratio gearbox, DCCD, factory roof vent and quick shift gear linkage, all as standard. Built in December 1999, it is number 142/1000, it has covered just 57,500 miles and comes with service history (some which I have had translated), original Impreza handbook and all the required import paperwork. It has a new, full MOT and is ready to be registered by its first and only UK registered keeper. I am very happy to assist with this very simple process.
Very tidy Sonic Blue paintwork and Limited Edition interior, fantastically solid underneath, no corrosion and has never seen our salty winter roads. This car has obviously been cherished and its previous owner has embellished it with a few factory optional extras and some aftermarket toys. On the outside it has a WRC replica Roof Scoop, Front and Side Skirts, Ohlin fully adjustable coil-over suspension with adjustable top mounts and Cusco rear top strut brace and type MZ 182 rear LSD. On the inside it has a HKS Boost controller, Turbo timer and a Head Up Display, all of which I have left fitted to the car, but could easily be removed if required, to return to a factory fresh look. Factory options include the desirable STi optional 10,000 Tacho & 280 Kmh speedo Dash Clocks and the steering column mounted Lamco Turbo Boost gauge
