1998 Subaru liberty wagon 3 months rego

This car has been in my family since my father purchased it brand new. Been a good car still runs well but it's tired and old. It has done around 276000ks. I have been using it as my runaround for around 10 years. Runs ok. Would suit someone who has the skills and can put time and work into it or otherwise use as parts.
It has 3 months rego but no rwc needs work tho. I dont know exactly what it needs but here are the things I do know
Seems to use more fuel than it used to. Need to keep an eye on oil levels but it's not too bad
Check engine light has been coming on intermittently for years. Mechanic says it's a glitch but car seems less powerful when it's on? Never bothered me too much and I never took it to Subaru to check it.
Sluggish up hills but gets there. It rattles a bit over bumps. . I never drive it hard I just drove it at its own pace.
Has always run well never broken down except once when it needed a new head gasket in 2017. Body is ok see pics. Was keeping it until it dies but it keeps going and I got a newer runaround. It has been serviced every 10,000ks or thereabouts.
