2005 Subaru Outback LL Bean Wagon 3.0L DOHC
This is a great little car and fun to drive.
A few years ago, this car started to blow its coolant hose. This was a common problem with the 6 cylinder of this generation.
The owner was determined to get this fixed properly and spent a lot of money, to have the engine repaired, including reworking the heads and, from my understanding, having been worked on by reputable shops. The owner was an expert mechanic for most of his life, but was too old to fix this one, himself.
The result was that the engine was fixed and there's less than 10,000 miles on it.
There is still a bit more work to bring this car to very good condition. In my opinion, the front-left CV joint might need to be changed, along with power steering pump (makes noise), the air conditioner and cruise control don't work.
I have not tried to open the sun roof and since the car has been sitting for a while, I'm afraid that it might get stuck.
It could use some interior work on the dash, seats and carpet.
The car drives well and has recently passed smog.
The brakes are new and the rotors look really good.
The owner's family and myself have not been able to find the receipts for the work he had done, as of yet. We'll keep looking.
The paint is deteriorating, but the body is nice and straight. No major damage. Original paint.
