Description
Welcome to the sale of a very rare and understated luxury Saloon- 2000 (JZS161) JDM Toyota Aristo V00 Vertex edition 2JZ-GTE twin turbo.
I'll start off by saying I'm advertising on behalf of a close friend, I persuaded him to buy it in the first place but like many spontaneous purchases involving cars, he's now thought about his situation and because of his commute and the fact that he will no longer have anywhere to store it when it's not being used it is now for sale and I've put myself in the position to help him sell it for a fair price.
I've personally owned 2 of these cars (I still own one) and they're without doubt one of the most comfortable daily drivers you're likely to own, never mind at this price.
If you're not familiar with these cars they are the same quality and spec as the Lexus G3S00 sport model except they-along with Supra's- were the only production cars fitted with the world renowned 2JZ-GTE twin turbo engine.
This model (JZS161) again along with later Supra models were equipped with the last version of the engine which also had VVTi (variable valve timing) and an increase in torque, making this a very rare and capable car.
If power is the purpose for you buying this then basic performance upgrades will see around 400bhp - a very quick family saloon even by today's standards.
This Aristo has been specified with almost every optional extra from the dealership..
Notable details:
Tiptronic gearbox- This can be used as full auto for everyday motoring or switched to manual mode and controlled on the steering wheel by a push of a button.. This is not a gimmick- the controls are very responsive and in full auto mode it's very smooth and changes gear efficient and rapidly.. Certainly not like the auto box you may have in your mind if you've never driven one! These only came in tiptronic auto but trust me you'll never bother owning a manual again.
Full grey leather interior with heated front electronically adjustable seats- Overall in very nice clean condition, no obtrusive damage. Cream carpets and interior plastics are also very respectable and although the black interior is the obvious choice I feel this is a classy option and a perfect combination with the blue coachwork.
It has been well looked after and everything works as it should. There are a few things worth mentioning- The rear view mirror must have been displaced so it has been re-situated but is fully functional, you may want to re-mount it in it's original position though ideally. The driver's side matt has also been replaced with a grey equivalent rather than a matching cream one.
Touchscreen Sat-Nav head unit- MK2 Aristo's came with touchscreen HU's from the factory as optional extras, heater control's are also integrated into this and are fully functional by your finger tips . Although the OEM Japanese Sat-Nav is redundant on all models that are imported, this car has an aftermarket Clarion Sat-Nav system, there's also a OEM 6-disc multi-changer and with being fitted with a generously sized screen there's also the option of fitting a digital box to this to enable television viewing!
JBL sound system- These are on par with the UK Mark Levinson optionals and vast improvement over the stock Pioneer speakers.
Air purifier- The original owner also specified the very rare air purifier system, which would have cost a fortune new, hence the reason why they're so scarce!
In addition to the above it comes fitted with a/c, dual climate control, e/s, e/w x4, r/cl, e/hm, cruise control and HID headlights.
Onto the car itself, the paintwork is overall in very good condition for it's age and polishes up fantastically well for the majority, however like any 15 year old car there are some defects- There are a few small parking marks including one on the roof, and bumper as mentioned, a few scuffs and scratches and a small bubbling of paintwork/rust above the windscreen. There is also a crack in one of the rear lights but replacements have been purchased(see further down).
Apart from the Mazda RX8 wheels (which compliment the car nicely), reverse sensors and turbo timer, the car is completely standard and untouched.
It will come with a set of 2001+ updated oem rear lights to replace the stock cracked one, these are a fantastic addition and are certainly an upgrade from the standard pre 2001 variants. I may be able to get around to fitting them for him depending on how long it's for sale but it's a very straight forward job as you may be aware.
Onto the service and ownership history of the car..
The first owner of this car in the UK was an Arabian diplomat whom imported the car himself at considerable expense. It was apparently fastidiously maintained and I'm sure the servicing of the car was carried out meticulously as the current condition testifies to it, however most of the physical evidence of this has been misplaced as so often happens unfortunately.
The elderly gentleman who owned this car for several years after him did keep some record of servicing and has clearly also maintained the car to a good standard.
The cambelt was changed last year at 128km- its worth mentioning at this point that it still reads in KM.
It has a CAT1 Toad alarm and immobiliser, which was professionally fitted.
It was also fitted with a brand new battery last year along with various other maintenance work carried out including servicing and tyre replacements.
Mechanically- as I'm sure you're aware- these are brilliant cars, they're not the most economical (definitely not the worst) but they're very reliable and this one is no different- it won't matter where you're travelling from to collect or to during your ownership, this will get you there effortlessly every time.. Again though this is a 16yr old car and will need a few things rectifying to make perfect- The rear silencers have, at some point, been welded. They don't blow but it was noted on the last MOT so you might want to replace these for stainless steel items for longevity at some point.
There was a split in the PAS cooler at some point and it has been replaced with a good quality oil hose, however it can come with an original replacement if you would prefer.
Although it states in the MOT notes that the ARS (active rear steer) is faulty, there are no warning lights and if you've owned/know about these then you'll be aware that this is a common problem and is either remedied by a lock-out bar or swap for a G3S00 non-ARS subframe. This has been driven regularly for the past few weeks and has caused no problems though but depending on your level of knowledge on these cars it's worth mentioning, for transparency if nothing else.
I can honestly say none of the above "bad points" detract from the overall aesthetics, reliability or performance of the car, it's a very clean example and one I'd happily own myself if I didn't already own one, I doubt very much that you'll find a nicer one for the price either but I like to be descriptive and completely honest to avoid confusion and to ensure a smooth hassle-free sale for everyone involved.
Due to the minor imperfections he's willing to accept £4,200 OVNO and it's worth every penny, especially considering what these are going for and how much it would cost to import one yourself.
Viewing by appointment is recommended, he's based in the centre of Nottingham (JC26 M1) so it's only a short distance from the train station and not too far from the motorway itself.
I can answer any questions you might have and genuine interest can be forwarded onto the seller to arrange the sale.
No timewasters please, we don't mind tyre kickers as long as they've got cash in their hands! You'll be buying a good car and with a little time and money invested this will make a superb example so he won't entertain silly offers.
The car is advertised elsewhere so may be removed from sale at anytime.
Cheers
