Description
Up for grabs is a 2002 Toyota Camry in need of a front bumper assembly. This car was purchased new and has always remained in the same family. Well maintained and very clean, it was passed onto my daughter who was a first time driver. The car is in excellent mechanical condition, but as you can see is now in need of a front bumper assembly. This Toyota taught her a very valuable lesson, trees do indeed bite when the road is slippery. Thankfully, she suffered no injury, the bumper did what it was supposed to do and absorbed the impact.
We have removed and discarded the cover to reveal the damage. The frame ears where the bumper reinforcement bar bolts onto are undamaged, the airbag did not deploy. The upper radiator support is not damaged and appears straight. (see pics) The lower support is pushed in and can probably be easily pulled out. The tie bar between the two headlights, a bolt on piece, needs to be replaced. The headlights are not damaged. The grill needs to be replaced, the hood only has a slight dent which can easily be pulled out. The hood gaps by the fenders are straight. It's structurally straight!
There are several thousand of these vehicles on the road and in salvage yards. I've done a quick online search in a few salvage yards and have found complete bumper assemblies that range in price from $175 up to around $325. The complete assembly includes the support bar, foam reinforcement and cover, which is all that's needed to put this car back on the road.
The car has a CLEAN TITLE. We did not have collision insurance so the accident was never reported.
The condenser is pushed in, but surprisingly is still holding a charge, the A/C blows ice cold air.
Mechanically this car is in really good condition, it's only a cosmetic issue at hand here. The engine and transmission were running perfectly fine and the car drives really nice. The radiator is not damaged, there are no leaks! Car has great tires, a combination of Hancock and Michelin. Brakes are good, no rust on the body, there is a scratch down the drivers side and the rear bumper cover is also scratched up a bit. The interior is clean, everything works as it should. Non smoker vehicle! No rips, tares, the seats are in great condition. The car passed NJ inspection about a year ago, no check engine light, it will need a new battery.
This is a perfect project car for somebody who knows how to turn a wrench. All the repairs are bolt on components and again, easily found in any salvage yard. The book value on this car in good to fair condition is around $3,000. Keep in mind this car has a clean title, so with a few used parts and some mechanical skills you can easily put this vehicle back on the road for way under book value.
I welcome any inquires and the opportunity to see this car in person. It is located in Boonton, NJ 07005.
