Description

1981 Toyota Supra.
The exterior is very nice. It is partially original paint with the top of the bumpers repainted at some point. It does have a couple small dings that you will notice if you look for them, there is also some slight rust above the rear wheels from where grime was trapped under the chrome trim, it is very minimal and is the only rust on the entire car. It is missing the panels that go below the headlights. There is a small scrape on the rear edge. The paint just shines. The front hood ornament has a blemish, I have a replacement. The emblems need the black touched up. Horn works.
The interior is so close to perfect. It is immaculate with the exception of a strange green stain and a small tear on the rear seat behind the passenger seat. The centre armrest and seats do show some signs of wear, it is very slight. It is completely original even the radio and cassette player, which all work. I do not think it has been smoked in. I never have, the woman who I got it from didn't and her husband who owned it for 9 years didn't. It has power windows that work and are actually quick. Power locks, only the passenger side locks from the switch but the drivers side does lock fine. The optional map light in the arm rest does not light up, probably bulb. The steering wheel has some very slight side to side movement, I looked it up in the manual and it is a loose bolt inside the column, I don't want to take it apart and it isn't an issue. It had a tilt colum which works fine. All the gauges work, all the warning lights do to. The car came equipped with A/C, it is still complete but does not blow cold. Heat and fan work fine.
The drivetrain is as you would expect. It runs and drives fine. It had a tune up this spring, you can see the new plug wires in the photos. That isn't all that was done though. It also had a new exhaust installed, but something is loose so there is a quiet rattle as you initially give it gas. The tires are good as well. It does have a low idle, it feels like it is going to die when it is cold but never does. It basically goes away once warm but still fluctuates slightly.
It is a very nice Japanese classic. It is old enough to go to all the classic car show. It is not a race car by any means, it is an automatic and they weren't very powerful new. It does however accelerate quickly and is a very comfortable cruiser. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I have a recent appraisal for $4,000 that also verifies everything I have said. I also have the factory service manual, owners manuals, and some other paperwork as well.
