Toyota: Land Cruiser fj40

I bought the FJ from the service manager at our local dealership. It was his daily driver and I believe he was the original owner. For years I would tease him about selling it to me. On day, when I brought my 4Runner in for service, he told me he was going to retire in a couple of weeks and asked if I was serious about buying the FJ. He and his wife had bought a sailboat in Florida and would not need another vehicle. That was about 15 years ago. Now, my kids have grown and started to move on and it's time for us to look for our sailboat.
This is a very solid, all metal, removable top, California truck. The body is uncut and it has always been rust free. It was recently completely taken apart and restored to excellent like new condition. The body was treated to a high dollar professional base then clear paint job and the mechanical work was done by the top notch mechanic at the local FJ40 restoration shop.
The original 6 cylinder and 3 speed powertrain was upgraded to a High Performance crate Chevy 350 engine and new automatic transmission. The body was slightly lifted, not cut, to accept the bigger tires and the gearing, shocks, brakes, steering, and suspension items were replaced. The steering column was upgraded to a more stable higher mounted tilting unit. It is much easier to slide behind now. New cloth high back seats were installed in the front and matching benches in the rear and we added extra seatbelts in the back and a better roll bar for the kids.
This FJ40 is very capable off the road and is set up for street use also. It has been used regularly to tow toys, like the sand rail and fishing boat. It will go down the highway straight and smooth and has no problem getting down on the muddy trails. It is a very solid truck that is ready to go on or off the road.
