Description

Hi All,
Up for sale is a 1997 Diesel Landcruiser my kids have dubbed “Big Red”.
If you’re looking for something shiny that will look good in the car-park at the golf club, or next to the Porsche Cayenne’s at the kids private school, then this is probably not the car for you.
If you’re looking for a car that will tow anything, go anywhere and fit anything in it, then Big Red may be just the car you’re looking for.
I have owned this car for 10 years and my wife and 2 kids have driven all over Australia, towing a camper trailer and there has never been a track, hill or beach it can’t reach.
The Good:
- Bullbar
- Rear wheel carrier
- Rear fuel carrier
- Brand new head (3000km ago)
- Brand new glow plugs (3000kms ago)
- Brand new injectors (3000kms ago)
- Brand new timing belt and associated parts (3000kms ago)
- Lift kit
- Rear shockers replaced 3 years ago
- Clutch 5 years/40,000kms old
- Heavy-duty tow bar
- Extractors (New 2 years ago)
- Long-range fuel tanks (Sub tank)
- CD Stereo with USB iphone compatibility
- UHF Radio
- Black Widow drawers, storage and slide-out utility bench
- ARB “Aparatus” front bucket seats with inflatable lumbar supports
- Heavy Duty Cargo barrier
- Dual battery system
- New tyres 12 months ago
- Registration until January 2017
- Safari brand Snorkel
- HID driving lights
- Roof console
- Air Conditioning
- Rock-sliders
- Roof-racks
The Bad:
- Oil pressure gauge stopped working, so an after-market gauge has been fitted
- Car has 360,000kms, engine is still strong and will probably go for another 360,000kms as it’s always been up-kept, but this is not a low-kilometre vehicle
- Rubber floor mat worn through under drivers feet
- Window tinting scratched in the cargo area
- This is the base DX model with many extras added, but still has rubber floor mats (not carpet), manual windows, vinyl rear seats, 5 speed manual transmission, no turbo (so it’s a bit of a slug off the line) etc.

The Ugly:

- Much of the clear coat had peeled off the car, including the bonnet, top of the front right guard and top of the 2 left doors (refer pics)
- A white scrape on the rear left panel (refer pic)
- Various dents and scratches (nothing major)
- Interior is a bit scruffy, it has that “lived-in” look and has quite literally been lived-in as we’ve toured the country
- Heavy Duty winch has been removed for my new car

In case the above description has not been clear, Big Red is not a show-room Landcruiser, it is a car that has been used for 4wding and would suit anybody looking to do a trip, or for a tradie who needs a reliable vehicle with heaps of room, but doesn’t mind that it’s a bit rough looking. I haven’t had it checked for a RWC, but I am happy for you to have it checked out or perform any test you like. This is an honest appraisal of a tough car that has been good to me and my family. It’s a shame to see it go, but I’ve got a work ute that came with my new job, so I just don’t need it anymore.

If you want more info, message me through ebay and I’ll respond as soon as I can. Thanks for looking.
