Description
Up for sale is a 1994 Black Toyota MR2 Turbo T-top with black leather interior, power planted with a 4th generation 2.0 liter inline four 3SGTE motor paired with a manual five speed transmission. It was intended to be restored like new and has been garage stored most of its life and rarely driven during my 6 years of ownership.
Engine:
Originally the MR2 had a healthy natural aspirated 5SFE engine but lacks the power that I wanted. Therefore, its been upgraded to a more modern 4th generation 3SGTE engine from Japan. Upon installation, the engine has been refreshed with Toyota's gasket kit, intake/exhaust valve stems, fuel injector o-rings, water pump, oil pump, timing belt, cylinder head & valve cover bolts, and a refurbished Denso alternator. Fuel pump is upgraded to a new Toyota Supra Twin-turbo Denso fuel pump with new fuel filter. The engine is very responsive, powerful, and sounds great! The turbo is set at 16psi with a GFB Atomic single stage boost controller. Engine oil is replaced with Valvoline VR1 20W-50 for its high zinc content (also recommended by ATS Racing) with a Toyota oil filter.
Drivetrain:
Original S54 five speed manual transmission with new axle seals and refurbished axles from Toyota. South Bend Stage 2 daily clutch kit with new Toyota flywheel bolts, AISIN slave cylinder, and stainless steel clutch braided line.
Intake/Exhaust:
It has a 3" stainless steel intake, 3" stainless steel downpipe, and 3" stainless steel single muffler dual exhaust with a high flow catalytic converter all new from TCS Motorsports. Exhaust manifold is wrapped with PTP turbo blanket. Downpipe and exhaust pipe around the oil pan area is wrapped with PTP lava exhaust wrap. All exhaust studs, nuts, and bolts are replaced with new Toyota hardware. The CX Racing intercooler size is 15.25x9.5"x3" and is setup to be away from the traditional passenger side mount to prevent heat soaking by the turbo manifold area. I've tested various areas in the engine bay with an anemometer and found that its current location is cooler and has better air flow. After a few runs, I can touch the intercooler without burning myself. I do have a TCS Motorsports dual fan engine lid that will be included with the sell.
Body:
The MR2 has been resprayed to Toyota's 202 black color with clear coat at Service King. It has been clayed, polished, and coated with Adam's Graphene. Windshield has been replaced by Safelite with Toyota's weatherstrip. The following have been all replaced new from Toyota: T-top all around weatherstrips, door belt weatherstrip, side mirror weatherstrip, quarter windows with triangle vents, cowl vent, clear OEM front turn signal lights, and solid front molding. Folding side mirrors were added for that nice OEM function.
Suspension/Brake:
Power steering rack and pinion has been replaced with a refurbished unit from Detroit Axle with MOOG endlinks. Front TRD sway bar with new Toyota bushings and brackets. Power Stop rotors/brakes, and stainless steel chassis braces. Shocks are still original and have not been replaced or serviced but are still good.
Interior:
Multimedia is a 7" Pumpkin PX6 unit with Alpine component speakers in the front and Alpine coaxial in the rear both powered by an Alpine 4 channel power pack amp (KTP-445U). The bass is complimented with two 10" Pioneer subwoofers enclosed in a custom made sealed enclosure power by an Alpine 500W mono amp (MRV-M500). OEM Red stitched shift knob, window switch bezel, door handle bezel, door cup, shifter surround, stainless steel MR2 door sill ornament (still have plastic wrap on it), and gauge cluster glass all replaced new from Toyota. The rear view mirror was replaced with a Lexus GS300 version for the dimmer function. AC and heater works perfectly.
Misc:
Almost all the bolts/nuts are replaced from Toyota, areas that are prone to being exposed to harsh elements are replaced with stainless steel version for additional protection, and are torque to spec.
I've retained most of the receipts into a PDF and are stored in a thumb drive.
