Description

For sale is my 1971 Toyota Land cruiser FJ40
This is probably one of the most unique FJ40s in the world.
As you can see in the pictures the FJ40 is in great condition for a vehicle that is over 40 years old. I purchased this from my next door neighbor who owned the FJ 40 for the last 26 years. It was always stored in a covered location, which has kept the vehicle in fantastic shape.
It is a has the original "3 in the tree" manual transmission and the clutch feels great.
In 1988 the original motor was replaced with a small block v-8, which allows this car to be driven as a daily driver.
In the last month I have had the head gaskets service and replacement with a 12month/12k mile warranty on all work done from Mission Bay Automotive in San Diego, CA.
The v-8 gives this FJ 40 a tremendous amount of power, which makes it a blast to drive. The new V8 Chevy engine has less than 15,000 miles on it since it was installed!
The car also features an additional 15 gallon gas tank for extended adventures, an 8,000 pound winch that can be controlled from the cabin via remote in the glovebox and full custom front and rear bumpers.
The custom front and rear bumper includes the proper hardware for flat towing the vehicle in the front and the rear bumper has a custom mount for a motorcycle, scooter, or bikes on the rear. In addition to the motorcycle rack, it has additional rear signals and lights for towing connections.
The 4x4 has locking hubs so can easily be changed from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive if the terrain requires it and can also be towed flat behind a truck or RV.
This is a beautiful, classic and iconic vehicle that are increasingly becoming rare and will continue to become an appreciating asset, as well as an awesome car to drive to the beach or take out on adventures!
As you will notice from the pictures there are a few areas that have some hints of rust, but I would not consider this a rusty car at all. If there are any specific pictures you would like me to take, please let me know and I will send them over.
Due to the nature of this being an historic car, the original miles are unknown and the car will be sold as-is. The FJ runs great and will be a great addition to any collection or an awesome beach car!
If you would like to see it in person, please contact me and let me know and we can arrange a meeting!
