Description

Up for auction today is a 1962 Toyota Crown S40 Sedan (Toyopet), this is a very rare car and a piece of Toyota’s automotive history. This car is from a private collection, the sale is due to loss of storage space and the collector is trying to downsize the collection. This car has always been a Canadian Car since being imported to Canada. The car is 98% complete and original. The recent restoration which includes the interior, engine, suspension, brakes and the exterior paint have been checked/restored/ redone in 2013.
There was only 271 LHD cars ever imported for the North American Market and this is one of them!!!
The car starts and runs very well. The engine and gearbox (Toyoglide automatic 2-speed) was looked over, the interior has been totally restored from top to bottom. The carburetor and brakes were recently serviced and cleaned. The rear shocks and suspension are in great condition, the exterior of the car is in very good condition as well minus the chrome. All lights and gauges work and are also in very good condition. The chrome front and back bumpers along with the door handles will need to be redone as shown in the pictures. It is unknown if the radio is functional at the point of sale, therefore that may need some looking over as well. When we pulled the car out of the warehouse/ collection the door rubbers and boot rubbers were taken out, I have an old set of rubbers. Very fine minor(less than 3cm scratches may be present from car shows and outings). There is also a windshield chip on the front windshield(2-3 cm). The car is also missing an antenna for the radio. Other than that the car is in great condition and ready for a new owner.
The only reason for the sale is because I am trying to downsize my collection due to storage space constraints. The car is in very good condition and has been in many shows and Canada day parades.
The car is structurally sound with no holes or bondo, whatsoever. The car is very straight as you can see, with no rust holes or patches underneath as well. Unrestored Toyota Crowns have been sold anywhere from $3000 to $6000 in the past few years. This is a very good and a high number 2 car but not a concourse perfect number 1 car. The car is certified (road worthy) and currently has insurance in Ontario, Canada. Safety inspection sheet also available.
The license plate “1962 CROWN” will not come with the sale. In Ontario, Canada the plate stays with the owner.
Please note that the car is also up for sale privately and the owner reserves to cancel the ebay transaction at any time to facilitate a local sale.
The Buyer will pay and arrange for shipping. I have sold many cars overseas and I will facilitate and coordinate with your shipper that you arrange for a smooth transaction.
Please note that if you need to ask your wife, brother, sister, daughter or neighbor, please do so before bidding. Lastly, do not give your newborn, or your barber your EBAY credentials to bid by mistake. The car is ready to be sold; there are not many 1962 Toyopets around in this condition.
If you have any other questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask or call. If you need a picture of a certain spot/ place/ angle also do not hesitate to ask. Inspections are welcome. The car is sold as is and where is. The car comes with manuals, bills and history etc. No warranties implied during the sale of the car. The only thing this car needs is to be driven on a sunny day!
