Description
For sale is my Astra Sri cdti.
I bought this as a runabout last November when I was made redundant and lost my company vehicle.
I have now got another job with a vehicle, so the Astra is just sat on the drive most days.
It has recently had new drop links, ball joints, brake pads and the problematic 'swirl flap' actuators
have been upgraded to the bulletproof brass type. It has had a refurbished EGR valve fitted and also
a recent air flow meter. A new battery and 4 new tyres have also been fitted. It also has the exterior
pack fitted and in March had a brand new rear bumper and diffuser fitted (from Vauxhall) after a
woman thought she could reverse as close as possible in KFC. It did no structural damage, just
cracked and crazed the bumper so I had a new one fitted at a cost of nearly £1,600!
The car drives lovely and is very rapid (if you want it to be) but is still very good on fuel.
There are a few bad points to note, which are as follows :-
Although the tyres are new, the alloys are grazed and could do with a refurb.
There is a Slight rumble from the clutch (Which disappears when operated)
It has had a new clutch, DMF and hydraulic thrust bearing.
Gearbox solutions say it's the layshaft bearing and can be repaired for £250-£300,
depending where you go, but it's common for the gearbox to run for thousands
of miles with no issues.
The service light (Not engine management) comes on occasionally. I have had it on Vauxhalls
diagnostic machine twice and no faults or codes could be found. It does not affect the running
of the car in any way.
Also, the drivers window works, but you have to keep your finger on the button.
It also has the usual age related little swirls and marks, the worst being the light scrape on
the front O/S bumper in the photo. Most of these will vanish with a good polish.
There is also a cambelt & water pump kit which I bought when I first purchased the car,
only to find it had recently been done, along with a service. This is included in the sale.
The car is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
The mileage may go up slightly as I like to run it once or twice a week so it is not stood too long.
