Description
Australian assembled late model notchback from German CKD . All original factory except wheels and NOS parts I have changed.
Unique and extremely rare factory colour. Super rare dealer fitted optional Australian racing stripes.
Colour is "Royal glow" dulux E type acrylic. code #13244. unique factory shared arrangement with Nissan and VW used some of each others colours in the Motor works limited factory in Clayton, Melbourne Australia. This colour was used on the datsun that were being produced in the same factory.
From the several years of owning this car and years of research I have concluded this is the only one like this in existence in this combination of color, stripes and model, The colour being the rarest option as the only other example of this colour was purposely stripped and painted a custom metallic about 4 years ago leaving this as the only known example remaining to the VW community, the stripes are the icing on top!
Has some of the usual rust but body is original, no repairs. I would rate the rust as minor for a type 3 as they all rust. Floor pan is mint on left side, some moderate surface rust on right side, certainly solid and no holes. Can provide pics.
Original engine with 47,000 miles. has done 3,000 miles since 1986 where last logged at 44,000 miles. Engine has not even been touched other than points and plugs and general servicing, a lead and a breather hose.
Comes with a generous collection of NOS sheet metal for concorous restoration.
NOS, headlights, ignition barrel and keys coded to original, NOS gauges, electrical switches, some bits and pieces that I removed will be provided as NOS items. Anything else currently missing from the car will be provided as they were removed to catalog a what was needed for the project. Only part from memory that I don't have is a vent window frame as I not yet found a good one to my standards at the time.
I have 90% of the parts as NOS items for the entire car. Those will be sold separately at a later stage but happy to prioritize them for this car if thy parts are required.
Comes with log book with dealer and owner details, user manual etc
