Description

1960 European Beetle with Semaphores
This 1960 Volkswagen Beetle is a European-market example that was imported to the United States in 1977 by a returning US serviceman and remained under his ownership until 2019. The miles are believed to be original. This Beetle is in very well preserved original condition and only painted once in the past. The car is finished in single-stage Pebble Gray over Water Blue fabric and original door panels. It features lovely Semaphores, a single chrome mirror, and chrome bumpers with over riders. Power is supplied by its original 1.2-liter flat-four mated to its original four-speed manual transmission. Features include original body-side moldings, as well as bright trim, chrome bumpers with over riders, dual exhaust, black VW mud flaps, and original Wolfsburg crest on the front trunk lid.
1960 is a transition year for the Beetle making it a unique 1 year car, great for collectability. Many unique features about the 1960 and this one also has Semaphores making it even more interesting, as they were discontinued on US-market Beetles starting in 1955, and 1960 was the final year they were fitted to European models as in this example here. The Steel 15? wheels are painted two-tone gray and fitted with original VW- chrome hubcaps and Coker Classic whitewall tires.
This Beetle is fully sorted and ready to enjoy! A complete refresh of the brakes was recently performed including replacement of the shoes, lines, and all four wheel cylinders.
