Description

Up for auction is a 1972 VW Tin Top Camper bus. This van was purchased new in Van Nuys, California and did some time in southwest Texas and New Mexico, and now resides in Golden Valley, Arizona. The van is rust free for the most part, other than the battery box had a little, and was cut out and replaced. It is complete with everything it was bought with back in 72, including the child's cot that goes over the front bucket seats, and the original mosquito netting that goes on the back hatch, still new in the original box, and has never been used. It comes with the fold down Z bed in the rear, with all it's original cabinetry, to include sink, ice box, and rear jump seat that is behind the drivers side, fold out dining table, coat closet, and clothing cabinet. The fridge has all it's shelving still inside, and is still like new. Original leather spare tire cover. The full privacy curtains are also all still there, and in great shape. It has all the factory interior paneling, and head liner that came with it, except for the new front door panels from TMI interiors out of Corona California, along with their replacement front seat upholstery. The rear seat cushions and bed cushion have been redone to match. New carpet has been installed front and rear, and new kick panels finish off the interior. As far as the body, it has been repainted from the original pastel white that was faded badly from the sun, to sage green and white, inside and out with 2 stage base clear paint. All new light lenses and emblems were installed as well as some after market wheels and tires for a more sporty look. The original wheels and hub caps come with the van, and are still in pretty decent shape, if someone would like to go back to the original look. As far as mechanically, just about everything is new, or rebuilt. Here is a list of everything that has been done to this van since I purchased it from the nephew of the original owner.
The engine: Original 1700. complete rebuild from top to bottom. Lots of power. "Bigger Heads, Bigger Cam" w/ 12 month or 12K mile warranty.
Some restrictions on that, depending if you live outside of Arizona.
Rebuilt 5 rib transmission w/ new clutch and assembly.
New Empi Carb and Intake system.
New Empi Exhaust.
New CV axles.
New brakes front and rear
New shifting linkage and coupler.
Fuel tank flushed, w/ all new fuel lines.
New door seals
New windshield
New door panels
New Seat upholstery
New carpet
New Kick panels
Now, as far as the A/C goes. It has all the components still in place as original, except for the compressor that goes on the engine. That did not come with the van when I bought it, and when I started looking into it, the factory ones of that year didn't work all that well, and seriously robbed the engine of it's horse power. An after market replacement is available that works great and doesn't rob the precious HP but my butt puckered when I saw the price tag on getting one and having installed and make it work. To the tune of $1200 to $1500. Ouch. But it is all there if you have to have it.
All invoices will be included with sale of the van, and help with shipping is no problem.
There is virtually hundreds of newer smaller items I didn't mention here, but are probably pretty obvious that needed replacing when you take on an old vehicle like this guy. Please ask any questions you can think of, and I will answer them as best I can. The terms of the auction and payment are fairly simple.
Contact me prior to bidding if you have less than 10 dealings on ebay, or I will cancel your bid.
A $1000 deposit is due immediately after auction. Meaning you must have paypal for the deposit.
Payment is due in full after that within 72 hours of close of the auction.
Please feel free to come and check out the van just about anytime you would like. It shows very well, and I don't think you will be disappointed. Thank you.
