Description
This is a true survivor! Original paint, interior, headliner, and considering the year, all in good shape! Mechanically, the bus is virtually perfect. Drive it just the way it is, as the vintage 1978 patina is do-able as a driver. Or take it to the next step - a fresh paint job -- and WOW, look out car shows!
It has a rebuilt engine with low miles. Excellent power, fuel injected, starts with a click, and purrs like a kitten.
It transfers its power through the world famous Volkswagen 6 rib tranny (the one all the sand rail addicts want), shifts perfectly, good clutch, excellent brakes, decent tires, and did I say, Everything works! I mean everything, from the dome lights to the backup lights, even the GAS gauge! If you have ever driven one of these VW buses, then you know it's one of the better, if not best, van driving experiences to be had. Not quite a sports car, but certainly tons of fun to drive.
As a bonus, this van came equipped with air conditioning! It is all still there, right down to the compressor. It doesn't work, as it is original and the old 1978 system. But because it is plumbed, it won't cost nearly as much to get cold air again. The heater and defroster work just fine, too, along with the rear window defogger, emergency brake, etc.
The interior is CLEAN and in good shape consistent with the age. It is a step through to the middle seat (removable) and then rear seat in back that folds down. It is definitely a 7 passenger mini van! The sliding door on the side is easy to operate. All the windows roll up and down and operate as they should.Perfect for kids, dogs, hauling stuff, camping, and just fun to drive. Everyone loves a great VW Bus!
