Description
This is a very solid 13 Window Deluxe, with the desirable Velvet Green/Blue White paint combination M Code. It has a lot of the original metal and was not your usual rusty bus, but being over 54 years old it has had some lower metal welded in. Produced in Germany in September 1964 it was originally imported through New York and sold to a gentleman in Virginia, who keep it garaged and well cared for. It comes with the original deluxe items like the jailbars, deluxe belt line trim, Kienzle clock, plus nearly all the parts to complete the project. There are several boxes full of the parts taken off the bus, or replaced with new ones, like a full set of new rubbers. It also comes with three rows of seats. The upholstery on the front and rear are okay. The middle seat covers are pretty gnarly, but I am sure you would reupholster them in your choice of fabric.
The original doors, doglegs, rear hatch, engine lid, window frames and pop out frames, cargo floor area, parcel shelf etc. are rock solid. The roof, gutters and window surrounds are as nice as any I've seen. It is almost ready for painting, but does still need some body work to the rear passenger quarter by the gas tank flap. The engine apron is a new part. The bumpers are solid, including a hard to find rear pointed bumper.
I recently replaced the brake lines, brake cylinders and shoes. The transmission fluid has been changed and axle boots replaced with new ones. I replaced the rear trans mounts, but it still needs the front trans mount replaced. I include a new one. The 1500cc single port engine that came with the bus was not running. I swapped it out with the running 1600cc single port. This 1600 has an alternator, 12v electrics etc. I can include the 1500 in the sale if you want it. The suspension is still stock and at the original height. Steering box is tight.
I have owned the bus since 2015 and have a clear Florida title in my name. It has the original VIN plates. I am selling the bus as is, so please don't nit pick it. You will be getting a great VW for the money. Please contact me if you have any questions, or wish to inspect the vehicle.
