Description
Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon. This camper is inspired by the Tin Top Westfalia campers of the late 1960’s and 70’s. Simple, practical, and very little to go wrong. It includes a sink, built in continuous self draining ice box, a fold out bed and lots of storage. Also included is a removable camp box with a camp stove, pots and pans and more. The camp box is also useful as a foot stool, extra camp seat or table for the stove if outside conditions make you want to cook inside. There is a sink connected to a 9 gallon water tank via a hand operated pump. A pop top with all mounting hardware and new rubber seals comes with the van.
I’ve had this van for over 25 years and it has always been a California car. I have the original window sticker from the dealership in Modesto.
It is in great mechanical condition and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere.
That said, it is time for body and paint. See photos. Also, I live in a county that does not require bi annual smog checks so it has not been smoged since the engine conversion.
WORK DONE
Appx. 50,000 miles ago: Tico engine conversion. (New not rebuilt 2 liter inline 4 cylinder VW Jetta engine. Powerful and dependable.)
Less than 25,000 miles ago: Rebuilt transaxle, new U joints on front driveshaft, new brake rotors and drums and rear CV axles.
Less than 5,000 miles ago: Upper A arm bushings, ball joints, shocks and struts, Yokohama Geolander tires (15 inch rims), rebuilt speedometer, new windshield, front CV axles, rebuilt viscous coupling, new power steering pump and new timing belt and tensioner.
