1991 VW Vanagon Carat tin top with folding bed, curtains and table.

VIN number WV2YB0258MG005175 German made vehicle. Very nice one of a kind VW Vanagon Carat. with with folding pull out bed, factory clip in curtains and folding table. Perfect for touring and camping. Meticulously maintained by former Porsche/Audi tech. Regular oil changes and many updated improvements done over the years. New rear ceramic brake shoes with wheel cylinders. New flexible brake hoses. New muffler and tail-pipe. Third tail light was added. New design Hankook HD 14 inch tires. 160K miles. A/C, cruise control, power windows and power door locks all functional and working. Vanagon is a regular driver for trips and is perfectly reliable. Driven most days the mileage could tick up slightly. No long trips planned.
Engine was resealed with a valve job in 2009 and then swapped in 2010 from my then low mileage, sadly totaled in an accident, 1988 blue Vanagon (you know some jerk runs a red light and T-Bones my 88 Vanagon right after I did the engine work) to this white 1991 Carat bought as a one owner "roller" from Texas (Southern Vanagon-NO RUST) in 2010 with the 1991 engine and transmission completely disassembled in the back. The restoration project was a swap of the very best new or rebuild parts from the 1988 to the 1991 and a rebuild of the front suspension, rear suspension and transmission. Engine is leak free and still runs beautifully.
Automatic transmission was rebuilt 2010 using Audi 5000 Turbo internals. 4 Gear planetaries (rather than three) and more/larger clutch turbo packs. External transmission ATF cooler added. Brand new, not rebuilt, from Germany genuine Porsche 944 transmission valve body is used in the Vanagon automatic. A very robust and nice shifting transmission.

Front to rear long plastic coolant pipes have been replaced with stainless steel. New coolant hoses too.
Many reliability improvements done over the years are too numerous to list. Complete maintenance log with details. Drivers seat has some wear, see the picture.

Many extra hard to find extra spares included such as a 2.1 Vanagon engine block with new bearings and crankshaft (came with the 1988/1991 swap) exterior mirror, body panels, door parts, switches, distributor, coolant tank and valuable misc. This is a Gluten free Vanagon.
