I am selling the Bus because, we found a beach house in Central Florida. I guess it is a matter of comfort over weekend road trips on the Bus. We own three other VWs, and a Macan is on the way. We will miss Westy.
The Bus was rebuilt by Mark Grabowsky, Owner and Master Mechanic at Mark’s Werkshop, Cocoa Beach, Florida. Mark is considered in the FL VW Vintage Car circle to be the best in his trade, an honest and knowledgeable professional who specializes in vintage VWs. Mark built this Bus for me, and the mandate was simple: regardless of cost to bring the coolest, most unique recreational vehicles ever built by VW - the VW Bus/Vanagon Westfalia full Camper to its original or better than its original form, making the Bus mechanically reliable and dependable to go seek adventure anywhere. So he did.
All of transactions ( most with Go Westy ) are fully documented in both paper and electronic versions and will be provided to the buyer upon request.
THANKS and good luck!
About GoWesty's 2300 cc Waterboxer Engine
GoWesty Performance Waterboxer Upgrades Are NOT "Engine Swaps" (updated 02/15)
We have built our industry-leading reputation on our waterboxer engine program. Our staff of mechanical engineers, expert machinists, and engine assemblers have been dedicated to furthering the development of the water-cooled flat four for over 15 years. Our goal is to build the world's most powerful, reliable, efficient, and smog legal waterboxer engines that money can buy. If this is the type of power plant you want in your vehicle, you've come to the right place.
At GoWesty, we believe in the waterboxer. We get calls all the time asking if we do “engine swaps,” like the Subaru or in-line “Jetta” engine. We have carefully analyzed the different options available, and we've had the opportunity to look closely at several vehicles with various engine swaps. We came to the conclusion that we were going to invest our time and effort in developing the waterboxer design in the direction that VW undoubtedly would have gone had they continued to produce the waterboxer. Our goal is simple: Improve power and efficiency while simultaneously improving reliability. We don't design or build anything radical here, just high quality engines born from quality engineering and quality parts. Our 2450cc and 2700cc options produce more torque than the 2.2 Subaru without creating a white elephant. And even the most worn-out, out of balance waterboxer is smoother than any in-line commonly used as an engine swap in the Vanagon. We have come to the conclusion that—dollar for dollar and ft-lb for ft-lb.—the Waterboxer just can’t be beat.
We offer three waterboxer options above the base 2200cc engine. Even our base rebuilt waterboxer is a stronger-than-stock engine, but with the following three higher output engine options you get all of the regular items included in our base rebuild list PLUS the modifications detailed below. All of these higher performance engines will operate fine with the original, unmodified fuel injection system. We are currently working on a completely new, state of the art electronic fuel injection system to replace the outdated Digifant system. This will ultimately extract even more reliable power. This "plug 'n' play" upgrade will be available in the coming months and will further improve top-end performance of all our performance engines already on the road. We have fined tuned camshaft profiles and compression ratio of all our engines. Our base 2200cc engine is OK to run on regular 87 octane, the 2300cc and 2450cc require middle grade 89 octane, while the 2700 requires premium 91 octane. However: We recommend 91 octane fuel for all of our engines just as a matter of precaution. If for some reason your engine experiences a momentary over-heating episode, the extra octane may very well save your behind. Additionally, at current prices for gasoline per gallon, the price difference between regular fuel and premium has never been lower as a percentage.
