Description
I am offering my 1968 Original Paint Day Camper . Its not too often anymore that one will find a great super solid original paint bus these days . I know I may regret getting rid of it in a few years . But I need to thin my collection down a bit. The bus came out of far eastern Montana which is extremely dry .
From what information I can find . This model camper was offered at the dealer . The actual company that did it I am unsure on . I have copy's of a dealer brochure describing the camper and its options .
The 1968 Bay window bus had many unique features as it was the first year of the newer body style . One cool thing is they did paint these buses Split window bus colors . Which this one is Lotus White .
The bus is equipped with a 1600cc single port motor . And I was told by the guy I bought it from that he had just went thru the motor . Saying it had new main bearings , turned crank and a fresh overhaul . It is my understanding that he had a guy do the work and assemble it . I don't have any paperwork to prove what was done . But the engine is very clean , runs well and looks to have been apart new seals and put back together . So I didn't question what he told me . The transmission shifts well and is smooth , The brakes work as they should and feel great . Steering is tight and drives straight down the road . I just put a brand new set of 205/75/14 tires with less than 50 miles on them .
This bus is extremely solid and it shows . The body is straight with the exception of its dings ,scratches , little faded paint here and there . But has a great original look . There has been a couple small touch ups over the years . But that's to be expected from a vehicle that's 47 years old . The floors are solid and were sealed and repainted up front to keep from rusting . There is a small patch over the existing floor on the drivers side . But looking from underneath you can see the floor is pretty solid .
The bus does come with the roof rack . And comes in handy hauling extra things around . or tossing a paddle board or kayak on top no problem .
The inside features a fold down bed , table and jump seat . With plenty of storage under the seats , and in the side closet. Perfect for the quick weekend getaway . or a picnic in the park .
Feel free to ask questions .
The bus came from Montana and has a clear title signed off from the previous owner.
