Description
1984 VOLKSWAGON WESTFALIA/VANAGON IN EXCELLENT CONDITION - ONLY 71,023 MILES
According to the previous owner our 1984 Westfalia was purchased in Germany by the original owners who used it to explore and travel Europe. Sometime in early 1985 the van was shipped to the United States and driven from the East Coast to the West Coast. Eventually the van was sold to the second owners in 1987 and according to them was always garaged and properly serviced and maintained. They indicated they took one long trip to Canada-other than that the van was driven around town and on a few local camping trips. In 2007 they offered it to their neighbor who put it up for sale. We purchased the Westfalia from the third owner in California and drove it home to Manitoba, Canada some 2500 miles without incident. It had 55,000 original miles when we picked it up and currently has 71,023 miles. Over the past 8 years we have enjoyed many great camping trips with our Westfalia. We believe it is in above average condition. It has always been stored indoors and regularly maintained. We still love it but as we are getting older need a camper with more conveniences.
The van has been well cared for and meticulously maintained. To our knowledge it has ALL the original equipment including the original motor, transmission, A/C equipment, manuals, upholstery, carpet, sink, stove, LP tank, fridge, jack, curtains, tables, vent cover, pop-up bed/canvas. The air conditioning works great. All safety requirements have been met for Manitoba and the tires have been recently replaced and are like new. The van also has the original "Continental Transporter" (made in Germany) spare tire that has never been used.
The motor starts easily and runs smoothly. We have recently put in new plugs, spark plug wires, distributer, oxygen sensor, air filter and muffler. We believe this van is in excellent condition. If you would like we can supply a comment from the last service centre as to the condition of this vehicle.
We do have a slight tear in the screen on the pop-up canvas that can easily be repaired . Also, we had some minor hail damage to the front and right side of the vehicle a few years ago-it has been repaired and repainted at a Volkswagon dealership and looks like new. And, although the stove was in working condition when we bought the van, we have never used it and choose to travel with a portable propane camp stoves and BBQ. The fridge is in good working condition.
We have all the original paperwork, manuals, repair receipts and invoices for the last 30 years. It also comes with a custom made car cover and wheel covers.
This VW Wetfalia Vanagon is in excellent shape and is looking for a good home to continue its journey. If you are planning to take the vehicle back to the US we would be willing to drive it to the Manitoba/US border for pickup.
Also, selling in AS-IS, Where-Is condition, with NO Warranties, expressed or implied. Seller has represented vehicle to the best of his knowledge and makes no warranties regarding the condition of the vehicle that is unknown to him at the time of sale.
If you are located in the US it is best to call US Customs and Border Control to determine what is required to bring the vehicle in from Canada. .A good website to get you started is:
