Description
VW Caravelle T4. This is the most luxurious Caravelle you'll ever come across. The previous owner, who bought it brand new, was a VW mechanic and put in all kinds of extra features. The front seats are black leather Momos - they are unbelievable beautiful and comfortable. He also installed an in-dash GPS, which I recently upgraded to the latest Garmin unit with spoken street names and traffic alerts. It looks like it came out of the factory with the GPS fitted - much better than having one stuck to the windscreen. The car has a leather handbrake and gear stick surround and a leather Momo gear shift knob, all of which have grey stitching to match the interior. It has air conditioning, cruise control, electric mirrors, electric windows and remote keyless entry. It also has a CD player with an AUX jack for an MP3 player, and a Belkin bluetooth unit to transmit audio from your phone to the stereo wirelessly. There is an iPhone charger cable in the ashtray, but that could easily be changed to a Samsung charger or whatever you need.
The car runs really well and has never let us down. It has always been serviced on time and had a major service less than a year ago. We have only owned it for about a year and would love to keep it, but unfortunately we need a 4WD to tow a large food van that we have bought. I don't have time to organise a RWC so I am selling it without one, but we got one a year ago when we bought the car and haven't done many kms since, so it will fly through the test. It is registered until January 2015. Inspections and tests are welcome prior to sale.
I don't want to mislead anyone about the car, so here is a complete list of everything that I know needs to be fixed. The VW T4 forum (UK) is an amazing resource and will tell you how to do any of these jobs.
--The passenger side electric window switch needs replacing - it works to put the window down, but won't put it back up. I know it's the switch because I plugged in one from the driver's side and it worked perfectly. The switches are available for about $20 on eBay, or you could just get the driver to use the switch on their side to put the window up.
--The power mirror switch needs to be replaced. I haven't bothered because the mirrors are huge and can be moved manually, but if you wanted to fix it you would need to buy a new switch (about $30 on eBay).
--The cruise control sensor under the clutch needs to be replaced. Sometimes the cruise control won't work unless you put your foot under the clutch and lift it up a couple of mm. It might just need to be cleaned, but if it needs to be replaced it would cost about $20 for a replacement part - the part is very easy to fit.
--There is a small rip in the back of the third row of seats.
--The airconditioning needs to be re-gassed. We got it checked out last summer at the local auto elec and he said everything was fine and it just needed re-gassing. We were going to do it, but never got around to it.
--The sliding door does not open from the inside. I think something has just come loose inside the door, so it should be an easy fix, but I haven't got to it yet.
