Description
VW Corrado VR6 Storm
2.9 VR6 petrol engine.
With regret we are selling our VW Corrado. This is a genuine Storm model, one of only 500 ever made to celebrate the end of production, of which 250 were green and 250 were mystic blue.
Both my wife and I have other cars as daily runners so this car is only used for Sunday runs when the weather is dry. Last year my Wife’s Saab cabriolet only covered 2,000 miles and this corrado only 1000. Common sense says not to keep 2 cars taxed, MOT’ed and insured for a total of 3,000 miles between them. I would like my wife to sell her Saab and run the Corrado but she prefers the Saab as a daily driver and would not want to run such a rare car to go shopping and to work in, hence the Corrado is for sale.
The car drives superb and the engine is sweet and starts first time and settles down to a purr, not smoky. The timing chains are nice and quiet, good quality oils have always been used and the oil was last changed at 134,246 miles along with an anti freeze test and brake fluid test with a receipt to prove. Everything works as it should, Rear spoiler, sunroof, electric windows and door mirrors, heated seats, heater fans etc. The original first aid kit is present and untouched as is the warning triangle. The black leather interior is in very good condition with no heavy cracks or wear to the seat bolsters since the pictures were taken the seats have been cleaned, fed and polished. The rear seats hardly look like they have been sat in, the headlining was replaced 12 months ago, original carpet over mats are present. The front door speakers have been changed for upgraded direct replacement ones but nothing has been altered and the original ones are included in the sale should you want to swap them back. There is a dab Ariel stuck to the inside of the top n/s front window and a hands free phone mic at the top of the A pillar by the drivers sun visor, both can be removed without any trace. The car is totally standard and unmolested from new apart from a Clifford Thatcham approved total enclosure alarm and a new K&N panel filter but a nearly new paper filter is included should you wish to remove it. There is no radio currently fitted, but a DAB radio with Bluetooth phone ready can be bought new for around £100 or cheaper second hand on online auction sites should you wish.
I’ve had the wheels fully refurbished (acid dipped and powder coated) and bought 4 brand new genuine BBS carbon wheel centres from Germany, neither the wheels or centres have ever been fitted since but will be fitted prior to collection for the new owner.
I have all the previous MOT’s and most tax discs, there a large file of receipts going back many years some VW some independent garages, there’s a lot of them.
Recently the car has had a new radiator and heavy duty battery which is still under warranty.
There’s a couple of bad points as most 20 year old cars have, the internal blind on the sunroof does not lift so I just slide it back, as mentioned above the sunroof itself tilts and slide perfectly. A replacement full sunroof assembly is included in the sale but as this issue has never bothered me I can’t find the 4 hours it would take to swap the assemblies. The dash back light for the odometer has gone out last winter but you can still read the mileage, all the other dash light and dials are fine.
The ABS light very occasionally (once every month or two) flickers on, and I have receipts for 3 of the wheel sensors being changed, so I can only assume the last one is on its way out but it does go out on its own accord within a mile or two, again a full set of 4 new sensors are included in the sale.
There are a few little scuffs to the paint work here and there and a small car park dink to the passenger door. There’s a small rust blister under the paint around the corrado badge holes under the O/S rear light about 40mm x 30mm (shown in the last picture) and a very small blister to a wheel arch side lip, I was quoted by a reputable main dealer body shop £650 to sort all the cars body work out, I’m sure this could be done cheaper with some basic DIY prep skills. There’s a slight bit of damage to the foam padding under the bonnet in two places.
During the recent MOT the car has three advisory’s
1) two small chips to the windscreen in zone A
2) O/S brake was running hot (due to sticking through lack of use) I’ve also got a bill to confirm this has been fixed.
3) The exhaust is rusty, but not blowing.

08/06/1999 – 060197,
22/05/1998 – 054906.(first MOT at 3 years old)
With this Corrado being Mystic Blue you can be assured that this is a genuine Storm model as the green ones could be replicated from the parts bin, The green paintwork was not exclusive to Storm models where as the blue was.
I have just insured this car through Churchill for 12 months, limited mileage to 3000 and without using my no claims it was around £160 with breakdown cover included, this car is now classed as classic status as its 20 years old and the insurance reflects this.
I bought the car from a friend just over 12 months ago, he owned the car since 2003, I’m the 6th recorded keeper.
Please ask if you have any further question, I really don’t need to sell but I can’t see it sat in the garage unused. Any inspection welcome, no test drives without full comprehensive insurance with covers any car. located 5 miles north of junction 33 of the M6, 20 minutes from Preston.
Any internet search will show what great cars these are, this can only become a true classic.
Please don't waste my time tire kicking, no agents, and I wont sell overseas nor will I accept a check for the car plus shipping.
