Description

Here is your affordable opportunity to embark on van life! This 1995 Volkswagen EuroVan full camper has everything you need for getting away. Standard features include canvas pop-top, lower full-size fold-out bed and a slightly smaller upper bed, refrigerator, sink, rear-mounted sprayer, two-burner stove and a camper heater which run off a 4.7 gallon LP gas tank, 110V/15A power provided by shore line, a deep-cycle battery providing 12V DC power when you go places where you cannot plug in, a 12-gallon potable water tank, 8-gallon gray-water tank, ample storage within cubbies and cupboards, two tables, and a roomy closet. The driver and passenger front seats also rotate 180 degrees for dining, relaxing, etc. This van also features a large and sturdy Fiamma roll-out awning for protection from the elements.
Here are some of the other good things about this camper:
- This van still has the original 2.5L VW/Audi 5-cylinder engine and 4-speed automatic transmission with only 130,000 miles. Very low mileage for a 26 year old camper!
- No fluid leaks! Thanks to extensive preventive maintenance, this van does not currently leak a drop of engine oil, transmission fluid, or coolant.
- Recent maintenance on the van includes the following: new timing belt, new harmonic balancer, new transmission cooler, new engine oil cooler and oil filter seals, new spark plugs and wires, brake fluid flush/refill, radiator flush/refill, new air filter, and new shock-absorbing mounts for the engine and transmission.
- All camping equipment is in working order: refrigerator, gas burners, AC outlets, camper heater, water pump and sink, all work exactly as they are supposed to.
- All the safety equipment you would expect from a small RV (carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, fire extinguisher) are present and in good working condition.
- No rust on the body. This has been garage-kept when not on the road, and has been in the desert southwest for several years.
- Tires are in good condition all around. Current tires have only 13,000 miles, have been rotated, and still have lots of miles left on them.
- The bed cushions, canvas pop-top, gas shocks that hold up the pop-top, and the awning are all in good condition.
- When the canvas pop-top is down, the van is only 6'9" tall (and 17' long), so it will fit in almost any standard sized garage. No need for an RV-sized garage!
- Ample interior room means that this camper van can also be used for tasks such as climate-protected furniture hauling.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, here are the less than great things about this camper:
- As you might have noticed from the photos, the left-rear panel of this van is slightly whiter-colored than the rest of the van. This is due to a minor fender-bender that resulted in some bodywork and a new paint job that did not exactly match the rest of the vehicle.
- While the canvas pop-top is in overall good condition, one of the three screen windows has several tears which have been repaired by tent tape. This is clearly visible in the photos above.
- This model year of camper (1995) came two years before VW started putting the bigger, more powerful V6 engine into the Eurovans. It has the VW/Audi 5-cylinder engine which can (slowly) get this van up to highway speeds, but it is by no means fast or powerful. It's still faster and more powerful than what you find in most VW Westfalia or Kombi campers though. The engine works hard to move a 5000-pound camper, and averages anywhere from 14 to 19 miles per gallon depending on how many mountains/hills you encounter on a trip. The engine works best when you give it premium (91 octane) fuel.
- The dashboard air conditioner/heater works, and is fully charged with refrigerant, but the blower cuts out when the engine is under load, such as when accelerating or climbing hills. The blower also sometimes makes unpleasant noises when operating. Note that this is the dashboard AC/heater blower being referred to; the camper heater blower works perfectly.
- The CD player works, but the small pop-up screen for viewing DVDs does not work.
- While this camper can sleep up to 3-4 persons once you set it up, it only has seat belts for the front two seats (not on the rear bench seat that folds down into a bed). This means that when it's on the road it is strictly a two-person vehicle.
We have priced this vehicle fairly based on all this information, and you would have a difficult time finding a good-condition full camper at this price. Bid confidently! If you have any questions, reach out and I will do my best to address them.
