This golf was purchased nearly 3 years ago as a standard 110 BHP TDI with 25,000 miles. It has had the GOLF R (R20) body kit along with a full engine overhaul including a GTB turbo conversion to take it to 245bhp.
he engine conversion cost over £3500 and body kit and wheels over £3000. A lot of money has been spent on this car.
This has a stainless steel fabricated exhaust manifold to suit a GTB turbo from a 3.0 Audi engine. (Audi Q7 turbo). It also has the EGR removed along with a front mounted intercooler.
A full turbo back custom stainless steel exhaust. This is 3" diameter from the turbo back and just one silencer in the middle. A lot of other engine mods also to suit this conversion.
The ECU had a hardwire remap to suit the turbo and all the engine mods.
Driving around town the car achieves 50-60mpg and has a quiet deep exhaust note. When you apply more throttle and under full boost this car pulls like a train and you can feel the torque and 245BHP. I have the dyno graph to prove to BHP and torque figures. The sound is unbelievable. This has more torque than a m3 or golf R and is the same power as a golf R but you achieve over 50+ mpg on motorways and normal driving. When driving hard the mpg goes down to 30-40.
The turbo and exhaust are very loud! In my opinion better than any GOLF R, GTI or R32. This sounds like a touring car or rally car and puts a big smile on the drivers face.
The wheels are from the brand squared wheels with lowering springs from ABT Over-finch.
This car has had a lot of attention to the engine and regular services every 10,000 to keep the oil and filters all fresh.
The bad points. The paintwork is not perfect and needs attention. The front bumper is peeling slightly and the wheel arches have scraped on the old wheels and chipped the paint.
Also when the engine is cold the clutch can slip in high gears at low revs. Once at full temperature this isn't an issue.
This was a CAT D around 3 years ago also. Fully repaired to standard condition when I purchased the car.
This car would be perfect for someone who wants a small project to put a little effort in to fix the bodywork. Also for someone who wants to buy a fast hot hatch cheaper than any other and achieving superb miles per gallon.
There are other golf r replicas on eBay similar year and miles with small petrol or Diesel engines going for a £10k+
This car is a replica but is as fast as a golf R !!!
