Description
My wife is making me
sell my 1990 Golf Convertible. I can only assume that she is doing this because
she hates my guts.
I have only had it a couple of months. Back then, I was the only driver in the house so she didn't have a say. Since then my wife has been "promoted" and her employers are insisting that she learns to drive so she can visit clients. Obviously, I don't understand the problem. " But is doesn't have power steering", she says. Sadly, it is against ebay policy to tell you what I said in response.
Either way, this car is a bit of a treat. No doubt it is rough and ready but if you know what you're looking at you'll be expecting that. It's a bit like driving about in a massive go-kart but without the need to dress up like some weird space tit.
Bodywork is showing some wear (see pics), there is some secondary rust (I have bought the stuff to fix it, I'll throw it in), there is a bit of damage on the dash but the remainder of the inside is about in line for a car of its age.
The roof is brand new; there is CD player and a subwoofer in the boot which is always fun.
Most importantly it is mechanically sound. I recently took it to the mechanic because the idle revs are high (vacuum hose has perished, a $50 fix) and he said that whilst it needs some attention, it is "dry under there." Long story short, for a bit of investment you'll have a sweet ride for some time to come.
This car would suit an enthusiast or collector, a young couple who feel something is missing (it is) or just someone who wants a fun car to drive around town/ take to the beach. This is a Mk1 which was imported from the UK, so a very rare model in Australia.
It is registered until 13/08/14.
I may decide to leave my wife over this because I suspect her attitude is indicative of some festering mental defect. If so, I reserve the right to end the auction right before I flee. In the car, of course.
