1987 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GTI GREY MK2 Type 19 Early

Welcome to my auction of my much loved and totally original early Mk2 Golf GTi.
This is the more rare early style Mk2 with the small bumpers and desirable 8v Engine.
Brief History while in my possession - I buy in Classic VW'S to return them back to originality and save them from the scrap yards, and over 8 years ago I found this beauty in a corner of a engineering workshop. After years of pestering the owner he finally gave into me and 2 years ago I trailered it back to carry out the work needed to restore it back to its former glory. In all honesty it didn't take too much to get it running properly again. I'm proud to say that after 15 years in storage with no one touching it once, the car fired up first time once I replaced the fuel pump. Not too surprising I suppose for these bullet proof classics. After my 2 years work on the car I took it for its first mot in over 16 years and it passed first time.
The car has had quiet a lot replaced (listed below), this Golf also has absolute everything replaced with original VW approved parts. From the original radio to all parts in the engine this golf has everything it came with off the production line nearly 30 years ago. Please bare that in mind though this Golf is 29 years of age and like most it has its battle scars to show but for a vehicle this age still very good. Ive attached photos of the surface work thats needs attention but wouldn't be a huge job for the right person. The only reason I have not finished the car with the minor exterior rust patches is unfortunately Im struggling to find the the time to keep working on it as we have just bought our house that needs alot doing to it.
Please remember this is the early MK2 so with no power steering it can be a bugger to manoeuvre through the tesco carparks. Once on the road its fantastic but as stated above the cars been stood for 16 years so the new owner needs to bed it in slowly. If collecting from afar i would strongly recommend a trailer as it might be a big ask to expect this old girl to race up or down the country to its new home.

This will be a true VW icon in all its originality. Ill be very sad to see it go.
