Description
Hi and welcome to the auction of my stunning mk2 Volkswagen Gti 16V
I'm loosing my storage at the end June so have decided to put some of my car collection up for sale.
Here's the full spec :-
1991 Volkswagen Golf GTI 16V
5 door in rare LR5T Steel Blue
104331 miles only 4 owners.
I'm an ex V.A.G main dealer employee with a massive love for these golfs, I have 2 others also in my collection which will also be up for sale soon (91 3 door oak green 16v owned by myself and previously a good friend for a total of 15 years and a 90 gti 16v alpine white 3 door with full mk3 wide track and vr6 conversion)
I bought this one just shy of 2 years ago, really original car with no modifications, low miles and low amount of owners for its age, mechanically very good + never ever been welded and was rust free! It needed a small amount of work to bring it back up to how I like my cars to be.
The car was sent off to a local trusted Porsche restorer which does the work to a really good standard.
The car had a few minor scratches, dents and a few bits of laquar peel from stone chips ect (NO RUST REPAIRS!) have to remember it
was 22 years old at this point so had them do all the body work, probably a bit ott. (last pic is when it was half re-assembled after paint)
This work was carried out Dec 2013. So the bodywork is now superb! No dents, No scratches, No Rust! The underside of the car is superb, never been welded!
I also had the cambelt and water pump changed at the same time + new heater matrix for good measure as these have a tendency to leak, new antifreeze and a service.
I've also had the drivers electric window regulator replaced as was noisy
Interior is superb, no rips, burns or marks, no holes in the drivers bolster either, headlining is like new, its never been smoked in.
Engine wise is its really good, gearbox is spot on with no 2nd gear crunch what-so-ever!
I have mot'd the car twice in my ownership, It went straight through its last one on Friday So has a full year on it. Even the mot tester said how clean it was underneath!
The mileage was 104247 when I mot'd it in 2014 and this year it was 104317 so It has covered just 70 miles between mot's! crazy after I spent quite a bit making it so nice!
It has been dry stored through out that time being started up on a weekly basis.
Now the bad points and im being really really picky but totally honest.
1. The alloy wheels are ok but in my opinion to make the car perfect would benefit from an refurbishment, there not really bad but showing small amount of corrosion and slight kurbing marks on the edges.
2. The centre exhaust box the baffles are a little loose and gives the car quite a raspy note.
3. Over this winter while the cars been in storage the mfa lcd display has gone dark.
4. Back brake discs are slighty corroded due to it being parked up through the winter, think they may clean up from a bit of use.
5. Central locking has stopped working, I have obtained a good second had pump but just haven't had time to fit it. This will come with the car.
6. Slight corrosion on the n/s/r top door trim, I have a good second hand one to go with the car.
The car has its book pack with quite a few invoices old mot's etc.
The car is HPI clear with certificate, V5 Present.
To sum up, this is a really clean example of this iconic hot hatch, that with a weekends work could be almost concourse.
If you would like any more information or would like to view please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cash on collection only.
