Description
Regrettably the time has come to sell my beloved 2011 Mk6 Golf R DSG. It has been by far the best car I’ve owned so far and unfortunately is likely to be the best car I’ll own for a long time. Please excuse the long advertIf you’re a genuine buyer and car enthusiast you’ll no doubt appreciate the effort gone in to writing this so bear with me…
It’s been finished in Candy White, complemented by gloss black grills and wing mirrors, gloss black front and rear VW badges and gloss black 19” Talladega alloys which were an optional upgrade over the Silver 18” options. This is a 5-door model (which I must admit I have come to prefer over the 3-door due to the obvious benefits in practicality) and had almost every option ticked when it left the factory. Since then the only changes have been a Stage 1 REVO performance upgrade. Unlike other modified examples this car has been meticulously maintained without taking away its original appeal as it’s still very much a standard Golf 6R but with a little more grunt!
Anyway, the most obvious options and features include:
·Daytime running lights (DRL’s), Xenon headlights and factory tinted “R” Rear LED lights
·Factory tinted rear windows (electric all round)
·Heated leather sports seats with R logo incorporated in to the head rest and centre adjustable armrest
·Leather rear seats with fold down armrest and pull out cup holders
·Flat bottomed, leather trimmed multifunctional steering wheel with thumb grips and DSG paddle shifters (I can include some carbon paddle extensions if required free of charge)
·Leather trimmed handbrake and DSG gear lever which you can switch between standard automatic, sports automatic or manual mode. When in automatic there is a kickdown facility on the accelerator but also the ability to use the paddles to choose a preferred gear. When in manual mode there is no kickdown or auto-change up so the driver must use either the paddles or the tiptronic gearstick itself to change through gears. Using the paddles in manual mode really brings this car to life!
·RNS-510 touchscreen unit which has pre-set radio stations, DVD player (I have enabled this to play whilst on the move), full media support (currently using my ipod), mobile phone support through Bluetooth and Sat Nav.
·“Dynaudio” upgrade to complement the integrated Bluetooth and media unit meaning fantastic clarify and bass.
·Multifunction drivers info display giving the ability to switch between many functions including current consumption, average consumption for journey or lifetime, travel time for journey or lifetime, oil temperature, range remaining, phonebook and phone features, sat nav, Bluetooth audio streaming from mobile phone etc.
·Front and rear parking sensors with rear reversing camera (the camera is hidden in the rear VW badge so pops out when reverse is selected) and auto dipping wing mirror which returns to original position once you start driving again or the ignition is turned off.
There’s plenty more in terms of features and options but those are the main ones which I think most people will be interested in.
In terms of maintenance, this car has really been looked after in the way any performance car should be. It’s been properly cleaned regularly, only ever been run on Shell V-Power (Nitro +) during my ownership, has always had the same Castrol GTX oil which has been topped up regularly and all the fluids have been monitored and topped up accordingly. I have always ensured the car is at optimum temperature before any spirited driving and has been given proper chance to cool down before turning off the ignition.
It has Michelin PS3 tyres all-round with plenty of tread left and the fronts were changed last spring. It’s also had brand new discs and pads all-round in the last 6 months or so at the cost of around £800. The car has only even been worked on and serviced by VW or VW specialists and has full service history with the most recent being it’s big service at just over 40,000 miles (it now sits at just over 44,000 however this will rise due to being my only car). This service included all of the usual things as well as a Haldex oil change and full visual inspection. The last MOT was in March which it passed with flying colours.
Performance wise, the standard car is quick and has great handling due to the four motion (four wheel drive) but is rather uninspiring for the amount of power it has. I therefore decided to have the car upgraded to Stage 1 by having both the ECU and DSG professionally mapped by VW performance specialists using REVO performance maps at the cost of £850. This massively transformed the cars throttle response in all drive modes as well as providing a lot more power and performance. The DSG map in particular transformed the feel of the gearbox and I would recommend this tweak to anyone even without the power upgrades. Anyway, the car is running around 310-315 BHP with similar numbers of torque which have been confirmed on two separate rolling roads. It really goes like it should now!
Now the bad bits…Thankfully there are only a few small ones:
·The near side front alloy has a some paint peel. It has a small amount of curbing which has probably contributed towards this and I haven't had the chance to get it touched up due to work being manic and needing my car every day
·There are some small stone chips which can be seen under close inspection but this has to be expected for a 5 year old car.
·There is a small dent on the off side rear passenger door courtesy of an old lady who opened her door in to me at ASDA recently. It is barely noticeable and thankfully the paint has not been broken so this could probably be pulled out easily and cheaply. Again I haven't had the time to sort this out.
I have been offered £18,000 trade in against a new car however I am not needing to buy another car so want a straight sale instead. Please bear this in mind though as I am not desperate or willing to take a ridiculous offer.
I’ve probably missed things off the write up as I’ve done this over several sittings so please feel free to get in touch if you want to ask more about the car. I can be available most evenings or weekends for viewings as long as I have prior notice however please bear in mind I will be the only driving the car on the test drive unless you are willing to show real commitment to buying and have suitable insurance in place. This is for my own peace of mind and to preserve the condition of the car as there are too many tyre kickers and wannabe racing drivers out there.
