Mk1 golf gti

Firstly if you would like to veiw the car I am available most days after 1pm. I am located just off the A303 and a 10 minute drive from J25 M5. You are bidding to buy not to veiw.
1989 Mk1 golf GTi 1.8 8v DX cabriolet in dark blue.
Selling due to having too many mk1's and I want to concentrate on my other project. I have some of the history from the previous owner plus receipts I've kept.

Used as a daily driver for most of the past year. Has mot till March 16.
Being sold as a drivable project. Lots of money spent in the past year on the engine and running gear. Including a full service, rebuilt rear drums, new handbrake cables, new bearings, new coolant pipes, new topmounts and lots more. Receipts keep total over 1k.
Lowered on coilovers but I have the original struts that will come with the car. 15" alloys.

First and foremost this car needs a new roof or a decent repair. When I first got it water was pouring in both sides by the handles. I have spent a lot of time getting it down to just a drip but it is still coming in.
It has a stainless steel manifold that is cracked. I haven't replaced it as it gives a nice bark when you drop the clutch and I kind of like it.
The drivers side wing is dented as I had a slight knock but the paint isn't cracked so should pop out okay. The side trim took the brunt of the impact so no scrapes on the painturbo either.
The alternator works but is a bit sluggish so it needs good rev to get it going properly when using lights. After that it's fine.
The interior is in fair condition. A few fag holes from previous owners but the bolsters are in good nick. Drivers seat cable is gone so it won't adjust the backrest. Parcel shelf has been cut into for speakers. No jack or brace but it does have a full size spare.
When the coilovers were fitted I had different rims on and the new ones are rubbing so i reckon it needs to go up a bit.
The speedo stopped working a couple of weeks ago. I've been told it's driven by a cable and it's probably jumped off the clocks but I had my new car by then so I've not looked at it as I've not been driving it. Has covered at most 100ish miles since that happened.

Due to previous owners being a bunch of bodgers It has lots of niggles that need sorting but the mechanical work has been done and it will keep going. The engine is very sound and the brakes are very good especially for an old golf. It will come on 5 spoke alloys similer to the one in pics.

This car is currently on the road and can be driven home by the winning bidder.

I have over 1k of receipts from the past year so the starting price is basicly giving the car away. You won't see many GTI's with an mot for this price so grab a bargain and save her before I start pulling it to bits.
