Description
2006 Volkswagen Jetta 1.9L TDI. Garaged NON-RUNNER. Needs replacement turbocharger (according to two independent VW experts). Private seller, owned car since 2008. Silver, manual transmission. New tires. Always properly serviced with Motul 5W40 synthetic oil changes every 3-5k miles. Timing belt replaced at 203k miles. Pickup only, unless buyer arranges own shipping.
This is a relist as the "winning" bidder of the last listing did not pay or even contact me.
This car is not driveable in its current condition. The engine starts and idles normally, but as soon as the accelerator pedal is pressed at all, the exhaust belches thick black smoke, the engine bogs down and doesn't produce enough power to even allow the car to creep forward on the clutch. I am told this is entirely attributable to the turbo being locked-up.
As far as I know, there's nothing else seriously wrong with the car. The rest of the engine, transmission, clutch, electrics etc all seem to work fine. But its an old car with lots of mileage and in crappy general condition. It was previously in an accident and the front right fender, headlight, and bumper were replaced, but it was a cheap repair job. The drivers seat has a rip in it but the other seats are okay. The headliner is coming away from the roof in several places, especially in the back.
