Description
I tried to enter the VIN# but eBay wouldn't accept it because it's not 17 digits long(pre 1981). So here it is- VIN# 1402860133 Odometer reads 25,400 miles, which I assume is 125,400 miles since it only has a 5 digit odometer.
As far as I know, I am the 4th owner of this little beauty. From the records that came with the car, the original owner purchased the car in 1970 in Pennsylvania(I have the original maintenance record book up to 50k miles), then he either moved to Arizona or sold it to someone who lived there. My friend purchased it from that guy in 1998, and mostly had it stored in his Fathers' garage in Ohio, as he moved to the Netherlands for work and started a family many years ago. I bought it from him in 2014. I've had it garage kept ever since, and taken it out for many wonderful top down adventures. It's a fun car to drive and you'll get plenty of smiles and waves, while cruising around in this charming ride.
I'm not a handy "fixer-upper" car guy, or I'd restore it myself and keep it forever. I think it's a great candidate for either a little love, as is, or an affordable full restoration. Alas, we're buying a new car and sadly there's no room left in the garage, to hang onto it.
The things I know it needs just from my 4 years of ownership:
• Some electrical work, the battery tends to slowly drain, so I just disconnect when it's not being driven(just bought a brand new battery that will be included in the sale)
• Has a small tear in the soft top(included photo)
• Paint is in good condition, except for a few very small chips and scratches here and there around the car. No major dents or signs of accidents that I can tell.
• Only visible rust spot is hidden inside the trunk next to the battery. It is rusted all the way through, so would need repaired to prevent further spread(see included photo)
• Gas gauge doesn't fully work, which I found out the hard way on a nice drive around a nearby lake(I keep an extra gas can in the trunk now, just in case)
• Interior - a few small tears in the seat upholstery. I would replace the carpet, just because it's old, and its not the best color.
• The only thing I can tell that is not original, is the removable face plate stereo with cd player, speakers and amp mounted under the dash. While it's nice to have tunes blaring with the top down, I would probably replace the stereo with something that looks like it came in the car.
I just had it serviced, oil changed etc. in Spring, and have only driven it 2 or 3 times this Summer.
I have the title in the State of Ohio, it's in my name, and can send a pic to verify to whomever is lucky enough to get this ride.
Also, delivery not included, so if you can't come and pick it up, you'll have to pay for and coordinate your own shipping.
Good luck, she's a beauty!
