Volkswagen: Karmann Ghia

This rare beast was built in the late 1970's and still retains a ton ofthe period correct equipment and charm that you would expect from a vintage race build.Iwas informed by the previous owner that a family friend built it forcompetition and ran it in the 1979 and 1981 Baja 1000.It still hasmost of the original race equipment (roll cage, front and rear tube subframes, under chassis skid plate, steering brakes, suspension etc) but has since had amore streetable motor installed (1,600 dual port) and new seats andharnesses within the last year.I boughtthis Baja Ghia because in allmy years as an air cooled VW enthusiast, I have never seen another one.It is a great grocery getter/show car and receives a LOT of looks andsmiles wherever it goes. I used it as my daily driver during car week last month in Monterey and it must have had 200 pictures taken of it each day. Where ever the car is, there are people standing around it or photographing it.

New Seats/harnesses, tail light lenses, roll bar padding, KC Highlightfront auxiliary headlamps, windshield, front and rear windshield rubber,fire extinguisher, complete front and rear brake system (hoses, shoes, master andslave cylinders), fuel pump, bowden tube, shift bushings, electric chokemechanism, fuel lines, synthetic oil change, interior and exterior(matte Huggar Orange) paint.
This Ghia just won Best In Show Off Road Vehicle at a theprestigious Bugorama car show in Sacramento CA and has been recently featured in Yahoo Cars, BoldRide, Jalopnik, Motortrend, Hooniverse and moreThe car has livedit's entire life in CA and is rust free.
